Philips 55PUS6401

The generously specified Philips 55PUS6401 is a budget 4K flatscreen with HDR (High Dynamic Range) compatibility and Ambilight. This 6 Series model is the largest in a family of three at 55 inches. It's joined by the 49-inch 49PUS6401 and 43-inch...

There are many reasons to buy this TV, but they don't include proper blacks and HDR performance.

Philips 43PUS6401 review

This 4K HDR television seems like a bargain, but does the performance deliver?

Decent image quality, particularly with 4K content ; HDR support ; Ambilight is on board ; Cheap

Screen lacks brightness to show off HDR ; Blacks could go deeper ; Contrast could be better ; Sound is poor ; Menus a little unintuitive

A 4K HDR set with one too many compromises to be made

Philips 49PUS6401 review

This likeable 4K screen packs in the technology and doesn't cost a fortune...

4K and HDR ; Exciting, punchy screen ; Bright and vibrant colour palette ; Plenty of crisp detail ; Ambilight is a fun feature ; Good price

Colours can be a bit overblown ; Black depth could be deeper and subtler ; Patchy backlighting ; Limited catch-up services ; No HDR support for Netflix

If you love Ambilight, 4K and HDR, this well-priced 49in Philips will impress you with its talents

Philips 6400 Series (43PUS6401/12) review: Now with HDR

Now with HDR support, the Philips 6400 is a much better buy for those after a small 4K TV

That said, it still faces a lot of competition from Panasonic's Viera TX-40DX700B . Not only does it fall in the same kind of price ballpark, but Panasonic's interface, built-in Freeview Play EPG, and overall picture quality are far superior, claiming...

Philips 55PUS6401 review

A well-priced mid-range 4K TV which benefits from Ambilight. There are a few picture quality flaws, but there's also a lot to like about this Android-based TV. Here's our Philips 55PUS6401 review

Overall, the 6401 is just a few caveats short of being a cracking mid-range UHD buy. For the most part, 2160p definition, colour vibrancy and an aggressive feature set should tick enough boxes to satisfy those stepping up from a 1080p telly. There are...

Philips 55PUS6401/12 review

  (Rating Hidden)

The first thing you will notice about the Philips 55PUS6401/12 is how the wall behind the TV lights up. The so-called 'Ambilight' is a splash of novelty in this Android-powered 55-inch 4K TV. But is it simply a gimmick? Find out in our expert review.

Philips 43PUS6401/12 review

A 4K TV at better than half the price of many others, this Philips will certainly turn heads. Its Android smart TV system - with handy Google Cast - will also be attractive to those with the smartphone or tablet OS. But has it played fast and loose...

The design of the TV is great, two simple feet that are screwed in and a thin edge around the TV. The ambilight feature works great and can be used with the screen off so that you can listen to music whilst partying. The smart TV is good though Google...
