Samsung UE40D5520

Pretty-boy looks, excellent picture quality, and a strong feature set all for under £530? Surely Samsung's UE40D5520 must have a catch somewhere...

Phenomenally cheap ; Good all-round picture quality ; Very easy on the eye

Audio struggles when pushed hard ; No Skype or web browser ; Very slight (but containable) backlight clouding

While there are plenty of other perfectly decent affordable 40in TVs out there this year, the UE40D5520 is clearly the best of the bunch we've seen to date - despite being also one of the most affordable.

Samsung UE40D5520 review

Best budget 40-42in TV, Awards 2011. A truly polished performer at the price, with no obvious shortcomings

Skinny chassis ; extensive spec ; tremendous picture-making ability

Not brilliant off-axis

Best budget 40-42in TV, Awards 2011. The budget price doesn’t have to mean obvious short-comings – and this Samsung is a truly polished performer

Samsung UE40D5520 review

Samsung leaves premium aspirations aside to deliver a superb budget 40-inch TV

Terrific value ; Lovely design ; Excellent Smart TV features ; Very good picture quality

Sound could be better ; More quality control needed over some apps ; Minor and mostly avoidable backlight consistency issues

While Samsung might like to shout loudest about its flagship TVs, it's actually the brand's mid to lower-range models that have most helped propel Samsung to the top of the TV sales pile. And with good reason, for over the past three or four years its...

Samsung D5520 (UE-40D5520) LED LCD Smart TV Review

We take a look at the Samsung UE-40D5520 and find out if it's another potential end of line bargain.

Deep blacks ; Calibrated greyscale is reference level ; Mostly excellent video processing ; Out-of-the-box colour reproduction is impressive ; Lots of Smart TV features ; Freeview HD tuner

Some noticeable light pooling uniformity issues ; Off-axis viewing diminishes contrast performance ; Soft scaling of interlaced standard def signals ; Motion blur with fast paced action ; Lame speakers

Samsung LND550 review: Samsung LND550

Samsung LND550

The inexpensive ; evinced good performance for an entry-level non-LED-TV, with deep black levels and ample shadow detail. Its screen was quite uniform, and the matte finish is a boon in bright rooms. Its styling is among the best in its class and its...

Color accuracy on the LND550 series was worse than most of its entry-level competition. Unlike some 60Hz LCDs we've tested, it didn't handle 1080p/24 cadence properly.

The Samsung LND550's mix of features, style and picture quality stands tall among the tough entry-level LCD TV crowd.

Samsung LN46D550

The budget-priced 46-inch LN46D550 suffers from some picture flaws and a limited feature set, but it gets you into a Samsung HDTV for less than $1,000.

Inexpensive. Attractive design.

Disappointing picture. Few networked features.

Dell Dimension XPS 600

This system will rock your gaming world today and tomorrow.

Two top-of-the-line graphics cards in an SLI (Scalable Link Interface) configuration. Top gaming scores. System stability. Huge 24-inch widescreen display. Less expensive than its overclocked competitors.

Kickstand is annoying.

With the advent of true x16 SLI in the Dimension XPS 600, we've reached another milestone in 3D gaming and real-time graphics rendering. The hardware has caught up with—and even exceeds—the capabilities of the games available today. The next generation...

Samsung LA32D550 Review

Televisions aren't necessarily the cheapest piece of electronics out there. A good 32 or 42-inch will set you back by more than Rs. 40,000. Of course, everyone has different budgets and that decides how much they're willing to spend on a television.
