Sony KD-49X8307C review

Android TV isn't quite there yet

Sleek and slim chassis ; Impressive Ultra HD image ; Great HD upscaling ; Good price

Argh! Android TV! ; No voice remote ; Lacking in brightness ; Some edge-lighting issues

Ultra HD image quality and excellent HD processing make up for the myriad Android TV issues, making the Sony KD-49X8307C a rather tempting 4K prospect.

Sony KD-43X8305C review

If you're in the market for an affordable 4K TV, this entry-level Sony set is one to consider...

Clean, sharp picture across all sources ; Strong upscaling ; Detail levels good ; Well priced

Android TV still lacks apps ; Broadcast colour palette too warm ; Lacks contrast

A worthwhile consideration for entry-level 4K, but it needs to do more to draw level with the competition

Sony KD-49X8309C review

Sony's X83C series provides an affordable entry point into the company's UHD (4K) TV range, and the KD-49X8309C is an attractive and nicely-sized option for family viewing. It comes with the benefit of Android TV, and offers excellent connectivity...

The Sony KD-49X8309C is almost identical to the KD-49X8305C, except that it has a lighter chrome stand and a better Motionflow rating of 1000Hz, compared with 800Hz for the X8305C. The X8309C is exclusive to Currys / PC World.

Sony KD-49X8305C review

The Sony KD-49X8305C is Sony's entry-level UHD (4K) TV for 2015, and it leaves us wanting more. Although UHD upscaling is handled well and gives a sharp picture, the screen's native lack of contrast and its slow response rate take the edge off viewing....

4K is grabbing a lot of attention this year, but be aware that as yet there's very little 4K content available. Most of us will be watching HD or even standard definition programmes for some while yet. For this reason, we're not completely sold on 4K....

Sony XBR-49X830C 4K TV 49"

The X830C is very similar to the X850C that received our highest rating. the new 4K Processor X1 is the most important feature to improve HD signals. Despite the lack of the Triluminous technology, colors on the X830C are very realistic and have plenty...

The wide-gamut color Triluminous display is absent in the X830C. As we note below, this is not the end of the world, as the new 4K Processor X1 is the most important feature to improve HD signals. Despite the lack of the Triluminous technology, colors...

Cheap and nice while it works

like every sony I've bought, it lasts 13 months and then breaks. Buy the extended warranty or buy LG.

Sony Bravia KD-49X8309C

Very good value 4K tv. AndroidTV is better than some reviews give credit for. The UI is slick, and the apps run quickly and smoothly. Picture quality is very good and whilst there is no HDR, there are not many sources of this anyway at the moment.

The remote feels nice to hold but is lacking voice input which would be useful for search. I am going to order the voice remote at £50 to add this as it will be very useful. The guide uses YouView which is great, but the one area of the UI which is a...
