Blue Microphones EyeBall 2.0 Webcam review

If you're a fan of all things retro, you'll be drawn to Blue Microphones' Eyeball 2.0 webcam. This device features a microphone reminiscent of those used by the BBC World Service in times gone by.

At £74, the Blue Microphones Eyeball 2.0 is at the pricier end of the webcam market – and you don’t even get dedicated software for your money. But this webcam appeals for its fully automated setup, excellent sound quality and stylish retro design.

Blue Microphones Eyeball 2.0 Review

Blue Microphones, as their name suggests, are generally all about the audio, and they've a strong reputation among musicians for the quality of their hardware. The Blue Microphones Eyeball 2.0 takes the distinctive Blue Snowflake and discretely adds a...

Cool Mic

Cool design. Stores nicely so I'll be using this when I travel.

Seems solidly built and can be put on desktop or mounted on the monitor with the included mount. Webcam seems to work well but I have not used that much.

Audio pickup could be better. I eventually switched back to my old Logitech headset after using this a few weeks.

Doesn't Cut It

I'm really disappointed and unimpressed by this vendor's mindfulness to design. Too much marketing, not enough engineering! I mean... SOMEONE in that company had to say "Hey! I don't think this should fall off my monitor sixteen times per day!" The...

It's very unique looking. Sound quality is a step above most webcams I've seen, but it won't WOW you the way the packaging makes it sound.

I was overall disappointed in this product. For one, this device is mounted on a base that is nothing short of a joke. It WILL not, no matter what intuitive position you try to put the thing in, REPEAT- WILL NOT sit properly atop a desktop-size LCD...

Worked well the first two times

I haven't called Blue yet, but I was frustrated enough to write this. Will update if it was something stupid on my part.

Cool looking. Ridiculously easy plug and play. No software needed. (Using Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit and Home Premium 64-bit) Fairly good sound pickup in non-sound friendly area

Totally flaky attachment to monitors more than 3/4" thick. They provide an attachment to stabilize the camera but the camera moves and falls with every little bump. I cannot consistently get 30fps ; First try was on Skype and the call went fine. Then I...
