Band Hero

It will be loved...

Certainly not for everyone and does come packed with a DLC argument hanging over its head. Band Hero will tick every box for the audience it's intended for, though.

Band Hero - Review

Another music game has recently hit store shelves with Activision's Band Hero. Band Hero has been positioned as a more family friend version of Guitar Hero. While the lyrics for some of the songs on Guitar Hero are edited to maintain the critcal teen...

Band Hero

Band Hero makes fake plastic rock easy to pick up, family friendly and a whole lot of fun.

Party Play mode is welcoming and fun ; All songs available from the start ; Slick visuals ; Jamming in the music studio is fun

Fewer songs than Guitar Hero 5 ; Limited song downloading and importing functionality ; Vocalists need controller to activate star power ; Trimmed-out lyrics aren't particularly inappropriate

Aside from new celebrities, songs and venues, Band Hero isn't that different from Guitar Hero 5. You can compete online in a number of different modes and vocalists now have to use a controller to activate star power. Like Guitar Hero 5, Band Hero is a...

Band Hero Review (Xbox 360)

Having focused on rock music for a number of years with the Guitar Hero series, in November 2009 Activision released a new game to please fans of pop music; Band Hero.

Band Hero Review (Xbox 360)

Ever since Guitar Hero III, it's felt like one of the key objectives Neversoft decided upon when they took over the custodial franchise duties was to sell out. I want to point out that I'm not just saying this because sometime way back when I had a...

It’s telling when the career mode starts you out in a venue which is a mall. Neversoft has got the selling-out formula it its apex for this title. However, there are certainly some guilty pleasures (Do You Really Want To Hurt Me?) to be found in the...

Band Hero

Start up Band Hero and you can literally jump right into performing/playing before even choosing what to do. That's the goal – jump in and play, and Band Hero succeeds greatly in that regard. Players can solo play, join or form a band, do some...

Avatar rocking ; Song variety ; Fun ; Drop in and out party gameplay ; Song/instrument specific challenges

65 songs that aren't all campatible with the other Guitar Hero games ; Why can't all the Guitar Hero songs be downloaded and work here ; Brand/franchise dillution ; The stars don't let the player's avatar play in the band

This might be what Guitar Hero 5 should have been.

Band Hero

2009 has brought us a number of different "Hero" games, from the standard Guitar Hero 5 to DJ Hero to the portable Guitar Hero On Tour to the band-specific titles that keep popping up on the Nintendo DS. Clearly Guitar Hero has created a monster. But...

If you've always wanted to play a Guitar Hero game but hate all of that rock 'n roll, then boy do I have a game for you! Band Hero isn't much different from Guitar Hero 5, but it does have a track list that will appeal to a slightly younger age group....

Band Hero Review:

Band Hero Review Xbox 360. After four years of Guitar Hero (GH), Activision probes the rhythm music genre for extra customers with a mainstream pop version of their franchise. The floors of Gamestops and gaming shops everywhere will be fi...

Band Hero is a solid execution of a neon-infused Coca Cola commercial. It makes itself fantastically easy to pick up and play in sugary 3 minute doses, and to drop out just as easily. Technically, features and presentation are well executed and bug...

Band Hero Review (Xbox 360)

franchise, but from this perspective, it's not substantially different from its predecessor that it's warranted. It has differences, to be sure, but it's like a set of twins where both play instruments, but the one that plays second is always going to...

also includes the GHStudio suite, which enables you to make your own songs, though your results won’t be all that close to the game’s song list (you can’t insert vocals, for instance)

Band Hero - Review

The famous saying “one ring to rule them all” does not apply when it comes to music-based video games, that being never more evident than this Holiday season. Activision is making sure there is something out there for every type of music loving gamer...

Graphically the developers took this game in a completely new direction, similar to a cel-shaded art style (it looks great). The visual look and song choices in Band Hero are not the only new additions though; one of our personal favorites is called...
