FlatOut Head On

Of all the games I reviewed last year, the one I keep going back to is FlatOut Ultimate Carnage. Whatever else I'm working on, however good or bad, I still regularly get a hankering for a bout of FlatOut. It's an almost perfect arcade racer with a...

FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage Xbox 360 Review

Even before starting this review, the urge to blurt out the name Burnout is a very strong one. However, regardless of the glaring similarities, I will try my best to steer away from direct comparisons and, at least for the first few paragraphs, let the...

In no way is it a bad game, but you’ll probably see everything the game has to offer if you just rent it.

It's not the winning that counts it's the taking apart.

It’s the same game as FlatOut 2 with a graphic makeover and a generous pinch of ‘So what? We're not

FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage

For all the talk about violence in videogames and parental and congressional groups getting up in arms about so-called “murder simulators,” it's a wonder there isn't more said about racing games that award points for crashing into things. After all, if...

Destructible environments ; Stunt events are great fun

Frustration factor of trying to balance fast racing with destroying as much scenery as possible is high ; No online minigames

Kind of a Burnout Lite and slightly more fun than frustrating. Minigames hit that exact right "just one more" sweetspot that'll keep gamers playing long after they meant to stop.

FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage (Xbox 360) Review

So tell me, just how crazy do you want your racing action to be?

If you like your racing fast and furious, with more than a little car-crushing chaos, then FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage will definitely satisfy your needs. If you like your racing a little more civilized, you might want to check out something like Project...

This makes good sense, as Electronic Arts and Criterion have done an excellent job with their smash-em-up franchise. But there's a newer kid on the block looking to change the conversation a tad
