Lost Odyssey (360)

Our *random battle* review of the new *random battle* RPG for the Xbox *random battle* 360.

Lost Odyssey

Just in case you weren't aware beforehand, the first thing you see when you pick up Lost Odyssey is the phrase 'from the creator of Final Fantasy' emblazoned across the front of the case. This is a good thing. Riding on the coat tails of past glories...

To bring things to a close, it seems like a bit of a cop out to end on the suggestion that if you like JRPG's then you'll like this otherwise don't bother, but it's genuinely the best advice I can offer. This is a beautiful, involving, epic example of...

Lost Odyssey Xbox 360 Review

Playing a guy who is immortal and has lived for one thousand years is certainly an interesting story when it comes to an RPG. There's plenty of stuff I'd love to do in life and with time like that I would probably be able to do them all. I'd be able to...

A high-quality RPG for the RPG fans out there.

Lost Odyssey

Lost Odyssey doesn't rewrite the rules for turn-based role-playing games, but its great story and minor formula tweaks will keep you entertained.

Kaim is a great hero, and his supporting cast is equally appealing ; Text flashbacks are well written and emotionally gripping ; Spell and skill development is handled deftly

Protracted battle intros and other frustrations break up the pace ; Some non-battle game play elements are boring, pointless or needlessly frustrating

Editor's note 02/19/08: After posting this review GameSpot found that load times in the review version of Lost Odyssey were significantly longer than those in the retail game. We have amended the review accordingly and regret the original error.

Lost Odyssey Review

Lost Odyssey, the latest effort to bring turn-based RPGs to Xbox 360, opens with an epic cut scene big on action, light on story. Sadly, things flip into the complete opposite once the battle is over. It is a fantastic game trapped in the past, with...

The game does have some serious problems balancing the action with the story. The first disc gives you a battle early, but then runs on for two hours straight of story and exploration until you reach another. There are large chunks of the game where...

Lost Odyssey

The Japanese RPG is a genre that shows signs that it's on the way out. Well at least that's what a lot of other media outlets would leave you to believe with their scathing reviews that complain about pacing and narrative. Most outlets would like you...

Lost Odyssey doesn't break the JRPG mold, but it does fill it out quite nicely with a strong story and great characters.

Lost Odyssey review

It has been a confusing time for me of late, having to review Lost Odyssey, Lost and Lost Planet. But it's not half as confusing as it is for Kaim, the focus of Lost Odyssey who is searching for more than 1,000 years of his memories.Reviewers play a...

With 1,000 years of memories to find, the hero of Lost Odyssey has a lot to do.

Lost Odyssey Review

Lost Odyssey was created by Mistwalker, the development studio founded by Hironobu Sakaguchi, creator of Final Fantasy. This is the studio's second release since being founded, the first being ...

Lost Odyssey is a solid RPG, but sadly, doesn’t take any real chances to move the genre forward. It’s firmly stuck in the past, and that’s going to cause a love/hate relationship with the game. There will be those who love its old school feel, and...
