Split/Second: Velocity

Split/Second comes from Blackrock Studios, who were responsible for the much underrated off-road racer Pure. The finesse and attention to detail are evident here as they take us back to the halcyon days of pure explosive racing.

I had expected to critique Split/Second's fast and easy attitude to the realities of racing. Having played it though, I find myself strangely drawn to its slightly old school re-imagining on the arcade racer. You might be tempted to wait for a fleshed...

Disney Interactive and Black Rock Studio eagerly push forward with their new racing franchise, Split/Second. Gamers who expect traditional racing events, with typical challenges and circuits might be in for a bit of a surprise. The game adds a very...

A decent arcade racer with flashy cars and high-speed chases through crumbling hazardous environments, cool atmosphere, a rather unique recipe resulting in some really exciting moments, especially in multiplayer

The formula of Split/Second gets repetitive relatively quickly, so you may not want to stick around for long, minor AI issues

Split/Second: Velocity review

Driving games tend to come in a few different flavours – rally (DiRT), track racing (PGR or Forza), and fantasy (Burnout). Whatever the flavour, there are some key things to get right, whether it be the handling of the car or the sensation of speed. ...

Caution: Excessive speed contained within. Those with heart issues should stay clear.

Whoever thought that there might be a decline in the number of racing games, May 2010 has showed us that is far from reality. May among being one of

Split/Second is one of those games that has a really solid concept and runs with it from start to finish. What ends up happening with this game though is that it looses that initial flare and ends up fizzling into a pretty standard arcade racing title....

Split/Second roared out of the gate and into stores a few weeks ago. Find out why you want to go along for the ride in this review.

Split/Second follows its “reality TV show” theme very closely in that I feel like it’s the greatest arcade racer to come out in a long time, but not everyone has caught on just yet. With tracks ravaged and different for every lap and timed explosives...

Split/Second Review

At what point does a racing game not belong in the “racing” genre? It's a question I asked myself constantly as I dodged missiles, explosions and debris in my play through of Split/Second. S/S is the successor to 2008's Pure out of Black Rock Studios....

There is plenty of variation between cars, with fictional manufacturers created for the game. Another cool visual piece is the evolving designs on your racer. As you win more races, your number and various other logos will change as your work your way...

Split Second

If there's a universal truth, it's that you can't go wrong with a driving game. Who doesn't like driving games? Throw in some explosive destruction and it's even more not gone wrong.

Split/Second is a fantastic and fantastically straight forward racing game that, despite a lot of explosive violence, is really and truly fun for the whole family.

Split/Second (Xbox 360) Review

Black Rock Studios is back in the racing seat with Split/Second, a reality show based racing game that has players performing intense cinematic stunts to win the viewer ratings and the show.

Racing games fall into specific categories, bringing simulation to new heights or serving platefuls of chaos to the masses. Today we take a look at Split/Second from the team at Black Rock Studios, a racing game that brings movie-inspired chaos that...
