Apple TV 4K review: If your smart TV is a bit thick and you're an Apple user then the Apple TV 4K is an essential addition to your entertainment arsenal.

Slick and powerful ; Siri voice controls are great ; Growing app store ; Clever remote ; Seamless setup, if you own an iPhone

Remote not great for gaming ; Automatic upscaling not always a benefit ; Some key apps missing ; Need to be an iPhone user to get the most out of it

The slickest TV streaming box around got the 4K HDR upgrade it needed. If your smart TV is a bit thick and you’re an Apple user then the Apple TV 4K is an essential addition to your entertainment arsenal.

The Apple TV 4K (2017) does a good job with 4K HDR content, but does that alone justify the price premium?

Recent updates have turned the Apple TV 4K into the best video streamer you can currently buy.

Substantial library of 4K HDR content ; Small, silent box ; Nice UI ; Useful voice control ; Strong picture and sound ; Almost every app you could ask for

Apple TV 4K is one of, if not the most premium of streaming devices on the market right now. It'll cost you a pretty penny but for your money you'll get high quality output, tremendous performance and a seamless experience for Apple users.

The Apple TV 4K delivers the best streaming video available to compatible 4K, HDR and Dolby Vision TVs. It offers the most polished streaming experience today, the best remote on the market and excellent Siri voice options. It's just $30, £30 or AU$40...

The Apple TV 4K is expensive. It doesn't stream YouTube in 4K or HDR. Cheaper streaming devices from Roku and others offer similar image quality and capabilities, as well as more 4K apps.

If you can swing the price and want the best streamer available today, get the Apple TV 4K.

Now that it finally includes an app for Amazon video , Apple's 4K streaming box is the hands-down best product of its kind. But you should only buy one if you want a premium experience and are willing to pay for it.

The Apple TV 4K is expensive. It doesn't stream YouTube in 4K or offer Dolby Atmos audio. Cheaper streaming devices from Roku and others offer similar image quality and capabilities, as well as more 4K apps.

If you can swing the price and want the best streamer available today, get the Apple TV 4K.
