Denon DBP-1610 review

Once again Denon has produced a thoroughly solid and dependable piece of AV kit, but we think there's better out there for the money

Good list of features ; solid styling and build ; easy to use ; good insight, smooth motion

Lacks a little weight to sound and edges could be sharper ; no multichannel outs

Another dependably good Denon AV product but falls short of the very best all-rounders

Denon DBP-1610 review

The latest Blu-ray player from Denon has a bit of a mean and moody streak

Good, natural-looking picture ; Audio performance ; Great value

Picture not as punchy as some ; No analogue outs ; Slow menus on some discs

A solid and well made Blu-ray deck that makes good use of Denon's audio wizardry

Denon DBP-1610

Still, its bulk and bluff appearance implies a player that has reproduction quality at its heart, which is just as well, since it's far from being the most broadly featured device here. There's a two-channel audio output and a digital coaxial output...

Top-notch audio components

No multichannel analogue outs, bulky build, video performance not the best here, expensive

Denon DBP-1610

The Blu-ray market is slowly populating itself with plenty of Blu-ray players to offer by all the same companies that specialize in DVD players, home theater systems and high definition televisions. Most of these manufacturers are reaching out to the...

This is a model that is recommended for people that solely want a Blu-ray player without the huge bells and whistles. While it is not considered a budget model, the Denon DBP-1610 does it right with the Profile 2.0 support, superb quality through HDMI...

Denon DBP-1610CI - null

I went with the Denon DBP-1610 for the dual video outputs. I have a two zone system in my house and the Denon output to both HDMI (Z1) and component (Z2) simultaneously. Most players either output to HDMI or Component. This player allows me to watch...

Denon DBP-1610 Blu-Ray Player

I am pleasantly shocked. I bought this primarily for a second sound room (aka man-cave) that I'm building. I needed a good CD player primarily and thought decent video would be nice too. 99% of the plan was for audio, 1% for movie or concert DVD....

Product Specifications

Combining superlative performance and high value, Denon's affordable Blu-ray/DVD/CD player includes features and technologies found on the higher end models, such as HDMI source direct and 12 bit video processing. Standard definition DVDs never looked better thanks to i/p scaling and upconversion up to 1080p, along with digital video noise reduction to eliminate compression artifacts. The precision drive mechanism is center-mounted, and the chassis incorporates Denon's separated unit structure architecture, which separates key mechanical and electronic blocks into five separate sections to eliminate mutual interference. Equipped with an Ethernet port, the DBP-1610 features Blu-ray profile 2.0 BD-Live web-enabled interactivity, as well as firmware upgrade capability. The specification HDMI output provides highest resolution Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD digital multi-channel audio compatibility, and the DBP-1610 is equipped with stereo analog outputs that feature high resolution Burr-Brown DACs for optimum audio purity. The DBP-1610 is able to handle a wide range of disc formats, including Blu-ray, DVD, DVD-R, DVD-RW, CD, CD-R and CD-RW discs, and features WMA, MP3 and DivxHD playback along with Kodak and Fuji picture disc playback capability for increased system flexibility.
