With its 30GB hard drive, SD card slot and 42x optical zoom, the SDR-H40 is a versatile little performer. If you're on the lookout for an affordable standard-def camera for casual use, it is definitely one of the better buys on the market.

Solid video performance for specs and asking price, 30GB hard drive, 42x optical zoom, records to both SD card and HDD

Image quality takes a significant hit under dim lighting

Panasonic SDR-H40 Review and Prices

The Panasonic SDR-H40 is an entry-level DV camcorder and is another entry into the increasingly popular hard disk drive market. It is designed to compete with the low-end Everio range from JVC and Sony's standard definition HDD camcorders.

Large storage capacity, great handling, powerful zoom and impressive OIS

Poor low light performance, low-quality stills

Small very small in fact very light weight. Perfect for family holidays and the like.

Not a great camera, but then that isn't it's job.

Panasonic SDR-H40

Easy to use, light, battery hasnt needed charging yet and have used alot. Best camcorder i have owed.

Built for bigger hands, sometimes a stretch to hit record button when holding on to camcorder but not really a minus as not a problem just have extra small hands
