Asus EeeBox EB1033

The EeeBox is a versatile, if slightly underpowered, HTPC solution on a very tight budget.

Can be mounted behind your TV ; More powerful than a network media player ; Up to 500GB capacity ; Very affordable

No TV tuner ; No optical drive ; Weak performance compared to other HTPCs ; Lack of A/V outputs

Despite the lack of added multimedia functionality, the EeeBox still makes for a respectable HTPC in a set of very specific circumstances. Designed for those who want their HTPC to be tucked away behind the monitor or TV, it's aimed at those who digest...

Two DOA's before moving on to a different mini

Not worth the return hassle no matter how easy Newegg makes it.

It is small and light

Both refurbished units arrived DOA. Powers up but no video output (tested on multiple monitors with both HDMI and VGA) or other sign that the unit is actually working

ASUS EB1033-B0100

price ; built in WiFi ; compact

when playing videos it was very shuttery. it was due to the different codecs different media players use. I fixed this by playing .mp4 on windows media player .avi .mov on vlc player ; used an ocz ssd but the case did not close when I installed it so I...

Updating BIOS

Solid performer with WIN 7 X64. Asus supplied drivers are solid. NVIDIA Graphics with the Quad Core Atom performs well for a low end machine. Used a 500g Seagate drive with 4m G.Skill DDR3-1333 So-Dimm

I would have given 5 eggs, but after being on Asus support for over an hour with a rookie reading off a prompter, I did a search and found my own answer why my bios wouldn't update. POOR TECH SUPPORT ; Asus motherboard BIOS update error: CAP file not...

Powerfull Powersaver

There is no LED for HDD activity, not really a con as most who would use this as an HTPC would not really want that flashing at them all the time anyway, but sometimes it is nice to be able to tell if there is actually activity on the HDD. There has...

Small form can be mounted nearly anyplace, Great mounting device that can turn to allow connections to be made without crawling around under a desk/shelf. Still a fan of the Intel ATOM especially these newer dual cores, you cannot beat the...

I do wish that two of the USB 2.0 ports were on the rear, along with the Audio and Mic jacks... it would save having cables wrapped around to the front all the time

Very Nice Tiny Computer

Would have preferred 4GB RAM installed or 'Order exactly this' instructions/documentation. Otherwise, extremely impressed with these computers.

Small, Quiet, Low Power Consumption, everything in one box (except monitor), good price, windows 7. Needed Windows 7 Pro computers for a medical practice that uses software that is not tested nor supported on Windows 8. Very few computers are still...

Very slow 1st run(s). OOBE for a computer professional before the system is "useful but not yet updated" - 1+ Hour. On 2/3 the WLAN (Atheros) driver did not install during OOBE/Setup - had to download from asus and manually install in device manager....

Great little PC

Nice size! I was able to mount it on the back of a monitor. Runs very quite and pretty cool. I was able to use an extra HD and RAM that I had sitting around from a laptop upgrade. I installed LinuxMint on it for my Dad to do email and Web. Video runs well

The Linux install took an extra step because of the Nvidia card. I had to boot in compatibility mode and install the Nvidia drivers. Smooth sailing after that. It is slower than an i5 or i7, but it's also MUCH cheaper

Open Case

Small form factor, super low power consumption, USB 3.0, etc etc etc. I'm going to be using this device to test some thin client options with Xenapp at the hospital I work at. I'll update with conclusion :)

No instructions on getting into case makes it a little annoying when its barebone lol. But I found these instructions and wanted to share http://goo.gl/B0saF (main reason for posting a review

Great little computer

Drop in some ram and an SSD and you have a really efficient computer with a tiny footprint.

Once you figure out how to get it open, it's all pretty easy to set up and get working

Doesn't support XP. Asus hardware is great, but their customer support isn't

How to open

6 screws on back need removed then the bottom plate slides back about 1/4 inch and then you tip out from connections. The wireless antennae must be removed and a slight bend of the plastic to get around that connector.

Easy Install. Small device. Very quiet
