eMachines ET1161-03 Value Desktop PC

With an upgrade or two, the eMachines ET1161-03 could become a pretty good general-purpose value desktop PC.

Good amount of upgrade options ; Rock-bottom price

Sluggish performance ; No appeal for gamers

You're getting what you pay for with eMachines' ET1161-03. Its performance is nothing pretty--in fact, it's horrible compared with that of most other value PCs. But the low cost is the key, and with an upgrade or two, the ET1161-03 could become a...

eMachines ET1161-03

We've seen some inexpensive PCs produce stellar performance, but at some point there simply isn't enough oomph available for such a meager investment. That particular deficiency plagues the eMachines ET1161-03, a $400 system that illustrates the need...

eMachines ET1161-03

You absolutely get what you pay for with the eMachines ET1161-03, a budget system that's saddled with outdated parts and yields poor performance to match.

Inexpensive. Dual-core processor. Some room for expansion. Available in multiple retail outlets.

Increasingly obsolete technology. Slow performance. No DX10 3D capabilities.

eMachines ET1161-07 review: eMachines ET1161-07

eMachines ET1161-07

Inexpensive; ample room for future upgrades.

Slow CPU; wimpy hard-drive capacity and memory combined with 32-bit Windows.

At first glance, the eMachines ET1161-07 seems like a decent setup, but a laundry list of subpar components running on 32-bit Windows Vista just can't keep up with other similarly priced systems that give you much faster performance and higher-quality...

eMachines ET1161-03 review: eMachines ET1161-03

eMachines ET1161-03

Several internal expansion slots available for future upgrades; roomy interior; inclusive front-loading card reader.

Other prebuilt systems offer more features and better components for the same price.

The eMachines ET1161-03 delivers fewer features than its competition at the same price. Stretch your dollar further and you'll find a desktop with significantly better components for only $50 more.

Economic times are tough but buying a new desktop computer with all its accessories doesn't have to cost a fortune.

Decent beginner PC

The model I bought was the display, so it already had some wear on it from the beginning. Even with Vista being a less desirable Windows OS, I have had no problem that was not to fault of my own. It is great for browsing, and basic applications. I DID...

2.4Ghz. Multimedia ports

good deal

I have built well over ten custom computers entirely from NewEgg and have ALWAYS been pleased with their prices and products. The price is always higher for customs with the cost of the Operating System expense. Thus I purchased the hole unit for my...

Great product for the price. All that is needed for an average computer on a desk at home. It allows for upgrades if desired, like a 8600 GTS PCI express video card for less than 50 bucks here at the EGG. I am also thinking of purchasing a dual core...

I did not purchase from Newegg. I feel guilty......but the upgrades are from here
