Raspberry Pi 3

The Raspberry Pi 3 is the latest version of the circuit-board computer that caused such a fuss in 2012. This is the most powerful version of the Pi, making the £4.25 Pi Zero look like, well, it's worth about four quid.

Raspberry Pi 3 review

Bakes more computing power in than ever before

64bit quad core processor ; WIFI and Bluetooth baked into the board ; Compatibility with existing hardware add ons

Very power hungry and 2.5A power supply needed ; An evolution rather than a revolution ; Can get rather warm when pushed

The Raspberry Pi 3 provides enough computational power to make it a viable replacement for an old computer. Building on the legacy created over the last four years this board will power many more projects to come.

Great value ; Big performance upgrade ; Wi-fi is an excellent addition

Not 4K ; Plenty of cheap media player rivals

Raspberry Pi 3 review: The revolutionary $41 mini-PC cures its biggest headaches

The Raspberry Pi 3's subtle improvements add up to a major usability and performance upgrade.

New connectors ; Outstanding value

None

And the Raspberry Pi 3 manages to achieve all that despite sticking to the same $41 price point. If you’ve ever had any interest in picking up a Raspberry Pi to tinker with, or simply want a dirt-cheap productivity computer, HTPC, or file server, the...
