Fujifilm FinePix F50fd

Fujifilm has jumped on the 12-megapixel bandwagon, but has it lost more than it has gained?

Fujifilm FinePix F50fd review

Fujifilm's flagship compact adds a wealth of new features

Great low-light performance ; Superior sharpness ; Well designed and built

3x zoom lenses, CCD-shift image stabilisers, face-recognition AF, and 12MP sensors are all relatively commonplace these days but the F50fd brings everything together well. It's a highly intuitive camera that's fun to use and delivers great image quality

Fuji FinePix F50fd digital camera

The Fuji FinePix F50fd sits at the top of Fuji's advanced compact range and with its undoubtedly impressive 12-megapixel resolution Super CCD HR VII sensor and Fuji's already reliable Real Photo Processor II image engine. Good image quality, good...

Image quality and detail, screen, redeye reduction mode, manual control, specification

Flash recharge is slow, focusing foibles, top sensitivity setting only in 3-megapixel mode

Good image quality, good design good price and a good set of features combine overall to make an excellent digital compact. ‘Nuff said.

Fuji FinePix F50fd 12Mp compact camera

Although it looks dull next to some of the flashier models we tested, the Fuji FinePix F50fd is a compact camera that has all the latest features and takes great shots.

Fujifilm offers flashier, more colourful models. But if you're more concerned with what your pictures look like than what your camera looks like, then the Fuji FinePix F50fd is probably a good bet.

Fujifilm FinePix F50fd review

At almost £70 less expensive than most of its rivals here – and £111 less than Canon's Ixus 970 IS – the FinePix F50fd seems like a total bargain. However, its performance matches the low price – and while the camera would be great for undemanding home...

Low cost; some innovative functions

Fuzzy, noisy output; poor anti- shake system

Fujifilm FinePix F50fd

If you're after a compact camera boasting all of the latest features, it's worth looking at the FinePix F50df.

Excellent image quality, improved Face Detection technology

Heavy, plain design, weak flash

Fujifilm offers flashier, more colourful models, but if you're more concerned with what your pictures look like than what your camera looks like, then the FinePix F50fd is probably a good bet.

Fuji Finepix F50fd

The Fuji Finepix F50 is a pocket sized digital camera. It has 12 megapixels and a 3x zoom lens. It has a number of extra features that can be hard to find on such a small camera. Picture quality is very good, especially in lower light.

Picture quality - shutter lag with flash - easy of use

It is hard to find fault

This is an impressive camera. Small enough to fit into a pocket it can take a decent photo in most situations. It is one of the best lowlight compact cameras around. It also has a few extra features than a typical point and shoot camera. Recommended.

Fujifilm FinePix F50fd

One of Fujifilm's main aims for the F50fd was to build on the low-light performance for which its predecessors were renowned, while offering higher-res images. This tricky task has been successfully accomplished
