Kodak EasyShare Z712 IS

12x zoom and optical image stabilisation for under £180

The Z712 is a surprisingly compact and lightweight camera, measuring just 103.6 × 74.2 × 69.7 mm and weighing 300g, which is smaller and lighter than any of its immediate competitors. It has a plastic body, but it is very solidly put together, with no...

Kodak Z712 IS 7Mp camera

Designed like a mini-SLR, the compact, 7Mp Kodak Z712 IS almost falls into a category of its own.

The Kodak Z712 IS excellent value for money and takes features from both compact and SLR designs to produce a camera with unique advantages. There's no face detection, but that huge zoom range and excellent optical image stabilisation make it hard to...

Kodak Easyshare Z712 IS

A budget superzoom with quality in the right places

This is a stylish-looking ultra-zoom model that has loads of features for the price range. A good buy all round.

Kodak Easyshare Z712 IS

They say first impressions last and my first impression of the Kodak is that it is impressive. £208 will give you 7.4Mp, 12x optical zoom, Image stabiliser and a fast click-to-capture at 0.26sec for those tricky action shots.

Image Stabiliser; 12x optical zoom; Good build

Explanations of settings on screen

There are some excellent features on the Z712 like the good lens, low ISO speeds, 12x optical zoom and panoramic stitch feature and is let down in other places like the Auto mode giving better portrait results than the portrait mode, the use of the...

Kodak Z712 IS

For those looking to take the next step up from their compact camera, an advanced, ultra-zoom model is the logical progression. Offering bigger zoom a...

12x zoom, Speedy burst mode, Image stabilisation

Some over-sharpening issues, Colour reproduction isn't great

A solid, but not exceptional, advanced ultra-zoom camera, Kodak's Z712 IS offers a big zoom backed up by optical image stabilisation. However, its pictures aren't quite as good as some of the competing models on the market.

Kodak EasyShare Z712 IS

A reasonable price, easy-to-use controls, and 12X zoom lens make this EasyShare worth a look.

Nice features for the price. Long zoom range with optical image stabilization. Manual and priority exposure modes. A large number of easily accessible controls. Compatible with Kodak EasyShare docks and software.

No custom white balance or slow-sync flash mode. Soft images. Image-processing delays after several consecutive shots.

Kodak EasyShare Z712 IS review

Some model names make no sense, but others, such as Kodak's EasyShare Z712 IS reflect specific details of the product. This Kodak is part of the company's line of superzoom cameras, hence the big Z. It includes a 7.1-megapixel sensor, so the model...

Has 12x optical zoom; optical image stabilization; manual exposure controls.

Noticeable fringing and artifacts in images; noisy images at ISO 800 and ISO 1,600

Kodak's EasyShare Z712 IS is a nice superzoom, especially for the price, though its image quality does falter at higher ISOs.
