Nikon Coolpix 3700

Shooting with the 3700 is relatively smooth and fast. The camera's boot-up time is around three seconds, and there is minimal lag between when the shutter is pressed and when the camera fires. The 3x optical zoom felt smooth. Battery life is...

Nikon Coolpix 3700 review

There's nothing especially innovative about Nikon's Coolpix 3700, but for a simple, well-designed point-&-shoot, it's a decent package. Its long, narrow shape means that the camera fits easily into a pocket, and its silver-metallic case has a solid,...

Image Quality

Nikon Coolpix 3700

Solid photo quality; autofocus-assist lamp; voice-activated self-timer; simple operation; great macro capabilities; accepts lithium-ion rechargeables and disposable batteries.

Few manual controls; no filter thread; no diopter adjustment; no selectable ISO speeds; slow low-light autofocus.

The stylish and easy-to-use Coolpix 3700 delivers good photo quality for a pocket camera but lacks the image controls that more advanced snapshooters expect.

Nikon Coolpix 3700

The Nikon Coolpix 3700 has few advanced features, but for a point-and-shooter, its fabulous 15-scene program mode and full-frame, 30-fps VGA movies are worth the price.

Summary: This is a wonderful camera for point-and-shooters who need guidance but can live with average image quality.

One unusual feature found in the 3700 is a time-lapse movie mode. It lets you film movie clips, frame by frame, at set time intervals (up to 60 minutes between frames). We're not sure what you'd use it for, but it's there if you need it. Also unusual,...
