Nikon Coolpix L810 review

Nikon's stylish entry-level superzoom with a 26x zoom and 16MP

Easy to use ; Broad focal range ; Two zoom levers ; One touch video recording

No viewfinder ; Fixed LCD screen ; Runs on AA batteries ; Not Full HD video

In recent months, the world of camera manufacturing has gone superzoom crazy. From the top end likes of the Fuji X-S1 to the budget-priced Olympus SP-620UZ, most brands have something new to sell.

Nikon Coolpix L810 review

Editors' note: During my testing, I experienced some performance issues that Nikon attributed to my review camera being an early production sample. I tested a second L810 camera, and while its autofocus and overall shooting performance were still slow,...

The Nikon Coolpix L810 is an inexpensive 26x megazoom point-and-shoot that's easy to use and runs on AA batteries.

The L810 performs poorly in low light and indoors without a flash, and its shooting performance is slow, as is its autofocus.

The Nikon Coolpix L810 offers a lot of specs at a low price. If you need fast shooting performance, though, you'll need to spend more money.

Low price tag; large focal range and lens-shift VR system; high resolution LCD screen

Certain elements feel a touch low end; AA batteries not to everyone's taste; slow operational speeds

Nikon Coolpix P51084/100

Ease of Use, Indoor Photos, Extra Wide Angle Lens

Shutter Response Times, Picture Quality When Lens Zoomed Out

The Nikon Coolpix L810 offers something different as it gives you the power of an extra long lens, but with the simplicity of a point and shoot digital camera. This helps to make it somewhat cheaper than the more fully featured models with similar zoom...
