Olympus SP-350

Hot on the heels of the Canon PowerShot S80, the Olympus SP-350 is breaking into the high-end compact market.

In the three manual modes exposure settings are easily adjusted using the D-pad, which is simpler than Canon’s innovative but slightly fiddly rotating dial. The other controls are kept to a minimum, which is good for simple operation, but it does mean...

Olympus SP-350

Olympus SP 350 Review. This camera has a wide range of advanced features, including manual exposure controls. It is likely that this camera would suit a more experienced photography or someone with an interest in learning about photography.

Sharpness in outdoor shots ; Feature set ; Record in RAW format

Battery life ; Shutter lag

I really like the Olympus SP-350. It is literally packed with features. The price makes it possible to buy an advanced digital camera for a low price. It has one big drawback though and that is shutter lag.

This could so easily have been a very good second camera for the serious SLR-toting photographer. Theres plenty of control and the usual excellent Olympus firmware. Unfortunately the slow shutter lag and problems when viewing the LCD w

Have you ever met someone who you disliked at first but over time developed a grudging respect for? That was how it was for us with the Olympus SP-35...

Great colour response and sharpness, Nice design, Good battery life

Poor chromatic aberration, slow

With high levels of chromatic aberration and slow operation, the SP-350 is far from a perfect camera, but the images look great at smaller levels and so it could definitely be worth a look if you need a compact, powerful advanced model

Olympus SP-350 Digital Camera

The 8-megapixel Olympus SP-350 is inexpensive ($325 as of August 25, 2006) for an advanced camera, yet it offers top-notch image quality. Its tiny, closely packed buttons, however, make the SP-350 most suitable for users who want the option of working...

Very high image quality Long battery life

Must use menus to change many settings Lacks image stabilization

Nonetheless, if you can live without the fancier settings, this step up from a point-and-shoot delivers top-notch image quality for a very reasonable price

Olympus SP-350 review

Olympus SP-350

Manual controls with sophisticated options; raw capture and onboard editing; compact, attractive body; accepts external flash; conversion lenses and underwater housing available.

Sluggish performance; no xD-Picture Card included; soft photos.

This Olympus SP-350 is packed with powerful manual features, but its performance and photo quality lag behind the competition's.

Olympus SP-310 Review

At the end of August 2005 Olympus added two more cameras to its 'SP' range of 'creative compacts'; the 8 megapixel SP-350 and the model reviewed here, the 7 megapixel SP-310. The SP-310 - on paper at least - offers a compelling mix of point-and-shoot...

Bright, vivid and sharp results Low noise at low ISO settings, still fairly low at ISO 400 Comprehensive photographic controls Rugged, lightweight construction and excellent handling Lots of scene/subject modes Huge range of advanced features including...

Images a touch over-sharpened Occasional white balance problems in scenes with one predominant color Some smearing of low contrast detail (such as foliage and hair) - no worse than most competitors Mild exposure problems in high contrast / bright...

The SP-310 is perhaps a camera that deserves more attention than it has so far received - it offers a comprehensive feature set at a remarkably low price in an easy to use and well put together package. Yes, the JPEG output suffers from the same...
