Ricoh WG-5 GPS Review

We review the waterproof Ricoh WG-5 GPS - a tough compact camera with GPS built in.

Fast f/2.0 lens ; HDR built in ; Good colour ; Carabiner strap provided ; Impressive macro mode ; 6 LED lights for macro photographs ; Good range of digital filters for editing photos ; Electronic level

Awkward tripod socket position ; Doesn't feature a panoramic mode ; Noise in images ; Doesn't feature Wi-Fi ; Red LED flashes every time a photo is taken

The Ricoh WG-5 GPS is a tough, action orientated waterproof camera, with a provided carabiner strap making it easy to attach to your clothing or belt. It also has a unique feature of a front LCD display which will light up and show you the time, even...

Ricoh WG-5 GPS Review

The Ricoh WG-5 GPS is of course the successor to last year's WG-4 GPS, and among its updates are improved shock resistance, a refined underwater mode, and enhanced interval shooting.

Price and availability. Available from March 2015, the Ricoh WG-5 GPS is priced at around US$380, the same price as its predecessor at introduction. Two body colors are slated for availability in the US market: Orange or Gunmetal Gray.

Ricoh WG-5 GPS

Lights around the lens that assist with macro shots, which is the main reason I bought this. The microscope mode is also a key reason I bought this. Seen some great results by others, yet to try myself.

Saw a review that it was odd to hold, and it is. No obviously comfortable way to hold it. But that is minor as it was not why I bought it.

RICOH WG-5 GPS CAMERA

Excellent robust camera filling a gap in between my large cumbersome SLR and my phone camera. Now using this more and more while out and about. GPS feature needs to be switched on as does remote control ability.
