Kobo Elipsa review

Can Kobo's note-taking ereader hold up against growing competition?

Stylus support ; Responsive, sharp 10.3-inch display ; Excellent handwriting recognition ; Speedy handwriting-to-text conversion

Heavy and unwieldy to use use single-handed ; Lacks amber LEDs ; Writing restricted to purchased ebooks only

Hands on: Kobo Elipsa August 17th, 2021 | by Wilson Wong Mobile 0 The Kobo Elipsa. PHOTO: Handout

The S$629.90 Kobo Elipsa isn't cheap but its large screen and stylus make it a handy e-reader to read books and scrawl notes on.

Kobo Elipsa Review

Beautiful design ; Books and documents look terrific ; Great store and public library integration

No yellow option for front-light ; Limited document export options ; Note-taking app lacks layers and colors

The Kobo Elipsa's razor-sharp 10.3-inch display is perfect for displaying large-format books and documents, and its stylus is handy for marking them up. It doesn't come with a lot of bells and whistles, but everything it does, it does very well.

Writing notes feels fluid ; Included stylus and cover are nice ; Premium build-quality

Super expensive ; Limited feature set ; No orange backlight

On its own, the Elipsa is a really great device. It features solid build quality and works well. However, whenever you compare it to other devices, it’s not worth its $500 price tag...

This Solid E Ink Tablet Just Can't Beat the reMarkable's Experience

E Ink is appealing for note-taking and reading, but the new Kobo tablet has a big flaw for the price.
