Sony DAV-X1V review

Sometimes it's worth paying a little more

Strong features list ; Versatile compatibility ; Excellent sound and pictures

Costly

It's not cheap, but if you can justify the expense you won't be disappointed

Sony DAV-X1 review

Sony DAV-X1

2.1-channel surround HTIB system; elegant design; tiny speakers; dual 6-inch subwoofer; HDMI output; plays SACDs; simplified cable hookup; includes setup DVD.

Virtual-surround effect limited to a small sweet spot; not a multidisc changer; movies sound better than music; high style comes with a high price.

Sony's DAV-X1 virtual-surround Dream System can unleash a full, enveloping sound from DVDs, but it's less satisfying with CDs.

Sony DAV-X1V

Sony's DAV-X1V is a stylish 2.1 virtual surround system aimed at those seeking a home cinema solution without the fuss of additional speakers and cabling taking over the room

Good set of features, Impressive connectivity

Too much MPEG noise, 'Surround sound' not really delivered

Good on paper, but unfortunately not quite so good in reality

Sony DAV-X1V review: Sony DAV-X1V

Sony DAV-X1V

2.1-channel virtual surround system; elegant design; five-disc DVD/CD/SACD changer; automatic speaker setup and calibration; tiny, two-way/three-driver satellites; dual 6-inch subwoofer; HDMI output; simplified cable hookup.

Expensive; the dearth of video conversion options minimizes the advantage of the two video inputs; proprietary connector cable limits speaker placement options.

Sony's lavishly designed DAV-X1V system sounds great on DVDs and less dreamy on music.

Sony DAV-X1 System

Sony's Dream Systems have set the pace for stylish home-theater-in-a-box systems (HTIBs) for years. Now, with its new DAV-X1 Platinum DVD Dream System, the company's designers have downsized the formula. Sony has added new features, such as...

Alot less money than the BOSE 2.1 System that cost $899.00!.. Excellent sound, great for HDTV's which don't have great built in speakers

The speakers are controlled by 1 wire

Sony DAV-X1G

Nice design. Sound quality is better for DVD than for using as a CD hi-fi, but still reasonable. Good price and overall very pleased with this purchase.
