Sony HT-1700D

Separate receiver and DVD player; oodles of power; DVD has component-video outputs; outstanding micro speaker package.

No 5.1 SACD/DVD-Audio inputs, cumbersome setup routine; no Dolby Pro Logic II.

This midpriced kit sounds swell with DVDs, but its less than stellar connectivity and ergonomics may limit its appeal.

I have been looking for a mid priced home theatre system for a pretty long time, shopping everywhere from Sams Club to Walmart to Target. Everywhere I looked had this system for $500. I was going to settle for a cheaper model of Philips or Panasonic...

Good explosion for your expenditure

I bought this system after looking around for a short amount of time because of the low price and the looks. After owning the system for about a month, I can say that it measures up as a decent system, but not anything that sounds like it costs more...

Looks good, sets up in less than an hour
