Acer beTouch E400

Acer's smartphone onslaught continues, this time with a budget offering in the form of the beTouch E400. This is the Android version of the Acer neoTouch P400 we reviewed last month: the same hardware but with a different operating system. The Acer...

Some nice widgets, software UI isn't overbearing

Resistive touchscreen display, design doesn't make the best use of space, poor camera performance, Acer keyboard not as good as native Android

The Acer beTouch E400 offers a reasonably stable Android experience which has only been lightly tinkered with by Acer. It doesn't offer the best experience because of the hardware specs, however. The screen could be more responsive, it could be a...

Acer beTouch E400 review

Acer's beTouch E400 is a slimline Google Android 2.1 handset with a 3.2in touchscreen. It eschews hardware buttons on its front and instead relies on four sensor buttons. Unlocking the Acer involves sliding a finger across a marked area of the screen....

With the ability to make your own avatar and interchangeable covers, the Acer beTouch E400 is an ideal Google Android smartphone for younger users.

Acer beTouch E400 review

It's relatively cheap for an Android 2.1 handset, but the resistive screen and 600MHz processor mean that it's not as responsive to use as we'd have liked

Acer - beTouch E400

Acer's beTouch E400 is a smartphone running Android. It is not overly expensive and it has a fair range of likeable specifications, though it can't compete for features with the really high end models like HTC's ...

As a mid-range smartphone the Acer beTouch E400 offers some nice visual touches in the chassis design department. Its extras, such as Spinlets and Acer widgets, are not enough on their own to draw us to this smartphone, though, and the battery life is...

Acer beTouch E400 review

Acer, which is a company perhaps best known for its netbooks, has been quietly churning out mobile phones for quite sometime now – and one of its newest is the 2.1-powered Acer beTouch E400.

Android 2.1, good storage, decent UI, 3.5mm jack input, Micro SD

Resistive touchscreen, bulky design, screen isn't as impressive as Acer claims it to be, lots of lag, low spec camera — the list could go on!

The Acer beTouch E400 can't compete with the competition at all. Yes, it has Android 2.1 but, unfortunately, this isn't enough to save it from mediocrity.
