Another year means another Pixel ‘a' release – but this year's Google Pixel 9a is different in a few important ways.
Best battery life of any Pixel ; Clean, more understated look ; Great camera performance ; Premium AI features
Thick screen bezels look dated ; No dedicated zoom lens ; Tensor G4 not as powerful as other flagship chips ; Slow charging
The Pixel 9a is a great phone that does nearly everything right. It offers a great design, now distinct from the flagship Pixel 9 collection, with improvements to an already solid camera offering, boosted performance and the longest battery life of any...

As far as 2025 mid-range smartphones go, the Pixel 9a beats the competition by a significant margin.
Price is great ; 60-120Hz OLED display is impressive ; Stellar Looking design
Camera performance isn't as great as the Pixel 9 and 9 Pro ; Sizable bezels ; Not every Gemini AI feature is available
Google's mid-range Pixel 9a offers impressive high-end features like a 48-megapixel main shooter, a 13-megapixel ultrawide camera with macro, its Tensor G4 chip, and 8GB of RAM, all in a cost-effective $500 package. Google's mid-range Pixel 9a offers...

The Pixel 9a is the least surprising phone I've tried in months, offering plenty of great features but also some familiar shortcomings. Is it still worth buying?

Google seems to have got it right with the Pixel 9a, which takes great photos and also feels snug in the hands. Can still be cheaper, though.

It might not look like a classic Pixel phone anymore, but this Android is still the best smartphone bargain.
Great performance. Reliable dual-camera system. Bright and sharp display. Solid battery life. Plenty of smart software features. Wireless charging. Improved IP68 rating. Seven years of software support. Flat back with nice color options.
Stale design (unless you pick iris or peony). Some accuracy issues with Assistant Voice Typing. A few Gemini-powered features are missing.
