LG Realm review

 

In the battle of the really cheap Android phones, the $80 LG Realm for Boost Mobile does OK, but doesn't win -- and that's even after accepting the 3G-only data speeds and entry-level specs like limited storage capacity and a low-resolution screen.

LG-only software extras add some conveniences to the LG Realm, and the glowing indicator light is a nice touch. The phone's low price is its main draw.

Low screen resolution and laggy 3G speeds earn the Realm a demotion. Internal storage space is limited to 4GB in all.

The 3G-only LG Realm isn't a terrible phone, but $20 more gets you the Motorola Moto G's heartier hardware and better design.

LG Realm (Boost Mobile)

 

The LG Realm for Boost Mobile offers decent performance for a rock-bottom price, but you can get a much better Android smartphone if you're willing to increase your budget.

Inexpensive. Good call quality. Comfortable size.

No LTE. Very little internal storage. Lackluster camera.

Conclusions The LG Realm is certainly not the best phone on Boost, but for $80, it's hard to complain too much. If you want a smartphone primarily for making calls, with the occasional apps and some Web browsing thrown in, the Realm will serve you...
