Pantech Hotshot - red (Verizon Wireless) review

At first glance, the Pantech Hotshot from Verizon Wireless looks like a low-entry smartphone. It has a touch screen, three customizable home screen pages, and you can quit and transition between "apps" in a way that is reminiscent of iOS.

The Pantech Hotshot is thin and light to handle. Call quality is solid, and photos taken on its camera are surprisingly decent. It doesn't require a data plan.

The Hotshot's processor is extremely laggy. The touch screen isn't sensitive, making texting, swiping, and pinch-to-zoom frustrating. If you want data, the network is slow.

With its delayed touch screen and sluggish processor, the Hotshot's smartphone-esque look is a detriment. It's better to commit to a full-on feature phone or a smartphone instead of a device that overlaps the two.

Pantech Hotshot (Verizon Wireless)

The Pantech Hotshot could be a pretty good feature phone, but it's hampered by a processor that just isn't up to task.

Thin, lightweight design. Decent call quality. Good battery life.

Sluggish. Poor audio and video performance. Weak camera.

Multimedia, Camera, and Conclusions For multimedia, you get 220MB of free internal memory, along with a 2GB microSD card. My 64GB SanDisk card worked fine as well. On the plus side, the Hotshot had no trouble finding my media, whereas many other...

"This phone has made my life hell."

Take this review as a warning to never EVER buy this phone. I saw the Pantech Hotshot one day at a target store. I was there to get my first cell phone upgrade. I was eager to switch away from my cheap little LG flip phone that I had dealt with for two...

Fairly resistant to small impacts

Terribly Designed OS, sluggish touch screen, cheap battery, dumb plastic coating, slow camera, insignificant memory space, ads on home screen.

"The worst phone ever! Shouldn't even be recycled!"

Can't seem to answer the calls before it goes to voicemail (it's not the setting), or it doesn't even ring and then dings to let you know you missed the call. Missed texts has no way to let you know except that your family/friends get miffed....

Not much as a phone.

Does not work period. Calls and texts are constantly delayed or missed. Most frustrating phone to have.

"I literally hate this phone"

This phone is horrible. Do not buy it. As soon as my plan runs out I will get rid of it. It runs on slow software that is extremely unresponsive. My microwave is faster than this hunk of junk. Everything you can download, music, videos, apps,...

"Easy to use, and good s sound quality."

Pretty good phone. Nothing spectacular but none of verizon's basic phones are. It's simple so that's great and easy to make a call. Only complaint is that it's a little annoying to text because the touch response isn't amazing, but it really isn't...

Simple, cute looking, easy to use, practical and the sound quality while you talk on the phone is excellent.

A little slow while texting, you can make a few mistakes frequently. But it's not too bad.

I'm pleased with the phone.

I have the Hotshot for 2 wks. I got it to replace LG Chocolate 2. My battery was running out & phone was starting to slow down. I call, text, take photos, listen to a little music. I'm satisfied with the Hotshot. It's not a smartphone, but I wasn't...

"I like it."

All an all, I like it and after a couple of weeks I am satisfied with it's performance. I switched after my LG enV Touch XV11000 got run over by a car. (Still worked but both screens were shattereed.) on Feb 28, 2012 Touch Screen is a little Weird...

Thin enough to carry even with a silicon case on.

It takes a while to learn how to use it.
