Even with the release of the newer Samsung Galaxy S24, there's still a lot to love about 2023's Samsung Galaxy S23.
Pocketable, minimalistic design ; All-day battery life ; True flagship performance
Near-identical to Galaxy S22 ; Slow charge speeds ; Display only drops to 48Hz
It might not be all that different from the Galaxy S22, but the Samsung Galaxy S23 remains an excellent compact choice without much compromise, boasting top-end performance, versatile camera chops and, for the first time, true all-day battery life –...

Samsung's smallest flagship, the Galaxy S23, brings a tweaked design and more battery, making for a great small-scale Android phone
Great small-scale Android option ; Battery capacity increase ; Updated design language
Battery life less than Plus & Ultra models ; No true camera upgrades like in the Ultra ; Not hugely different to Galaxy S22
The Samsung Galaxy S23 didn't really need to change a bunch of stuff compared to its predecessor to remain a stellar little phone. Little being the operative word: this is a small flagship with big successes, including a better battery than the...

A good upgrade that could've been great
A better, cleaner style ; Custom Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 ; Better selfie camera ; May be the perfect size
Not different enough ; Should have a 108MP sensor
Samsung has done enough to update the looks and components to produce a palm-friendly Android winner but the standard S23 isn't a must-have upgrade device.

The most mainstream Galaxy stays small while stepping up performance. Is the Galaxy S23 still a top Android pick?
Premium styling with beautiful build quality ; Epic performance and great battery life ; Some of the best mainstream smartphone cameras
Price bump from last year despite few major changes ; No big leap in camera capability ; Design has barely changed
Samsung plays it safe, but the S23 is still a brilliantly well-rounded phone. It’s the compact Android flagship to beat, if you don’t mind paying a premium.

The Samsung Galaxy S23 is the standard model in Samsung's 2023 flagship range of mobile phones. It's physically the smallest model in the series, but boasts powerful specs and several upgrades on its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy S22. While it looks...

The Samsung Galaxy S23 may be the base model of the S23 lineup, but there's a lot to love here. We break everything down in our full review!
Sleek and compact design Comfortable for one-handed use Very fast performance Reliable cameras take great photos Long-lasting battery life Five years of guaranteed updates
Base storage is still 128GB Fast charging up to only 25W Limited zoom quality past 10x
“The S23 has a clean design, a compact size that makes it comfortable to hold, a gorgeous display, a snappy processor, and reliable cameras. There's a lot to like about this one.”

One of the best compact phones in the world just got better - the Samsung Galaxy S23 is faster, sturdier, better connected, and with more battery juice....
No-nonsense sturdy and grippy design, IP68.
128GB uses UFS 3.1 instead of UFS 4.0 memory chips.
The new Galaxy S23 made our verdict quite easy this time - it's an impressive smartphone with modern specs and capabilities. It's a compact and lightweight phone, still priced below or around €1,000, making it much more attractive than Apple's offers....

Premium specs, good battery life, and an above-average camera make the Samsung Galaxy S23 one of the best compact Android phones you can buy.

The Samsung Galaxy S23 is, for the first time in a few years, up to the task of taking on its significantly more expensive "Ultra" compatriot.
Top-quality display ; Solid cameras ; Outstanding battery life ; Delightful integration with Windows ; Great screen size
OneUI needs a refresh ; Nighttime photography could be better

The Samsung Galaxy S23 is the best compact smartphone that money can buy right now. However, in spite of being better in some ways than its elder siblings, it risks getting overshadowed by the Galaxy S23 Ultra and the Galaxy S23 Plus.
