HP Pavilion dv1600

The HP Pavilion dv1600 is an entry-level thin-and-light notebook with a plethora of multimedia features. Its performance troubled us, but the low asking price and impressive battery life are difficult to argue with.

Reasonably portable ; Great battery life ; Comfortable keyboard and touchpad ; Altec Lansing speakers ; Quick-launch multimedia buttons ; Instant-on DVD playback ; Dual front headphone jacks ; Integrated webcam and microphone ; Bluetooth support ;...

Raw performance is worse than competing offerings ; Integrated graphics not suitable for gaming ; Can't be configured with Windows Media Center Edition ; Glossy screen becomes reflective when indoors

"works for me"

the notebook is perfect for what i need it for, handles all my software well (exept for visual studio 2005, that can be alittle slow to start, nothing too serious) good stylish design and features make it my ideal notebook for all my work.

great design, good display, media features are well done and implimented, WiFi and bluetooth work well, i dont know why but the notebook just flows for me, integrated webcam and microphone are a nice little extra, ports for everything i need in easy...

can be slow to shut down sometimes, i would have prefered more RAM (thinking of getting it upgraded to a gig or more, if anyone knows any dealers that stock them that would be handy), after extened use the hard drive heats up abit more than i would...
