Samsung SyncMaster XL20 LED Backlight Monitor

Samsung's XL20 brings LED backlit screens to the desktop at a far lower price than ever before. But can the quality match the keen pricing?

With the XL20, Samsung has clearly tried to bring the benefits of LED backlit displays to a more affordable price point and thereby a greater audience. On that score, it has succeeded admirably. I've never seen an LCD display with colours as rich. If...

Samsung XL20 review

New LED technology shines light on brighter colours. But is it worth the cost?

Superb colour performance ; Ambient light hood ; Colorimeter included

Expensive ; Relatively low resolution ; Slightly ugly

Impressive semi-pro performance for serious Mac applications, but at a semi-pro price

Samsung XL20

At £800, the XL20 is the best value LED currently available, and while Samsung has opted for an AU-Optronics A-MVA 20in panel instead of its own, the build quality, chassis and matte screen are to Samsung's customary high standard

Excellent colour reproduction, Superb clarity

Expensive

Forget the price for now - it will fall, and when it does LCD's days will be numbered

Samsung XL20 review

As technology rolls on, monitors seem to have become stuck in a rut. Now that CRTs are in effect dead, panels such as the Samsung XL20 are having to find ways to differentiate themselves from big-selling budget products.

The LED backlighting is much less interesting than the Samsung XL20's impressive wide gamut performance. The 20in screen isn’t overly generous and at £999 the XL20 can’t be considered a bargain. However, colour performance is outstanding, making it a...

Samsung XL20

The Samsung XL20 offers excellent colour, but it comes at a cost. We ask if this monitor strikes the right balance between cost and performance.

Excellent colour, Eye One Display 2 colorimeter and software included, stand with height adjust and portrait mode, dual USB 2.0 ports

Low resolution, relatively small 20in diagonal, colorimeter not needed if you already have one, unwanted bezel decorations

The LED backlighting is much less interesting than the impressive wide gamut performance. The 20in screen isn't overly generous and at £705 the XL20 can't be considered a bargain. However, colour performance is outstanding, making it a good entry-level...

Samsung XL20 review

The Samsung XL20 is a 20in monitor that's an affordable take on exotic LED backlighting technology.

This monitor is designed for professional graphics artists and photographers. It's a 20in monitor with a native resolution of 1600x1200; it relies on ...

Excellent colour reproduction, ships with a hood, versatile stand, USB hub

Supplied colour calibration tool doesn't have Vista drivers yet

For users who work with colour-sensitive applications such as image and video editing, this screen can't be beat. It was pretty much flawless during our colour tests and its viewing angles were excellent. If you're a pro, this screen is well worth...

Samsung SyncMaster XL20 LED-backlight monitor | silentpcreview.com

The XL20 is Samsung's first LED-backlight LCD monitor, released about a year ago and promoted for graphics artists and imaging professionals keen on high color accuracy. SPCR's interest in it was mainly to check the power consumption, as this is one of...

Price, Price

Price, Price

The Samsung SyncMaster XL20 is not just a great monitor, it is an amazing imaging tool. The current price of over $1500 may seem high when 24" LCD's can be had for under $500, but the closest competition comes from monitors whose prices start at over...

Samsung SyncMaster XL20

The forward march of technology leaves in it's wake all categories of electronics. The latest category to be affected is display technology. Today we're looking at a new what Samsung is doing with LEDs in it's new LCD panels.

Bright display with good black levels, Excellent colour reproduction with 114% NTCS colour gamut, Supports AdobeRGB, and is fully customizable, All the other bells and whistles you expect from a high end LCD, including a very adjustable stand

The big ticket price, which isn't reduced much on the streets, Calibrator doesn't seem necessary, could be upgraded, Size ; the unit is 9cm (3.54 inches) thick and weighs 7.6 kg (16.75 lbs)

XL20 : Samsung's 1rst LCD LED

The XL20 is the future of LCD monitors. We particularly appreciated its really wide gamut, the possibility to easily switch from one color profile to another and the new viewing angles (finally!!!). Whether it's for movies or dual monitor...
