Mad Catz RAT Pro X review

The RAT Pro X earns its acronym, Really Awesome Tech.

Once you finish setting it up, the RAT Pro X plays like any other lightweight gaming mouse. Instead of a crazy high dpi sensor like the Diamondback, or a wealth of button options like the Nyth, the RAT Pro X relies on the fact that once you spend a few...

Mad Catz R.A.T. 8+ review: Back from the dead

Mad Catz and its famed R.A.T. mouse return from the ravages of bankruptcy. Is the new R.A.T. worthy of the name, or just a pretender? We went hands-on to find out.

Eminently customizable ; Uses a reliable PMW3389 sensor ; Feels durable

Customization options aren't always intuitive ; Heavy, even with the weights removed ; Hard to know whether Mad Catz peripherals are more reliable nowadays

Overall, it’s a great return to market for Mad Catz, or at least the Mad Catz brand. The mouse isn’t without faults. It’s still a RAT, and bound to be as divisive as ever when it comes to appearance. Dust is a constant struggle as well, since it gets...

Mad Catz R.A.T. DWS: Lab Tested - RTINGS.com

The Mad Catz R.A.T. DWS is okay for FPS gaming. It has low click latency when used with its USB receiver, although it isn't as low as other gaming options. It has a very low lift-off distance, a wide CPI range, and a CPI you can adjust in increments of...

Very low lift-off distance, adjustable length; suitable for all hand sizes and grip types, good click latency with usb receiver

Very heavy, can only be used wirelessly, mouse feet are very thin and feel cheap

Mad Catz R.A.T. 4+: Lab Tested - RTINGS.com

The Mad Catz R.A.T. 4+ scores as a good FPS gaming mouse, but it's a bit heavy and has very high click latency, especially for a wired gaming mouse. The plastic pieces that make up the body feel cheap, and the mouse rattles when you shake it. Also, its...

Adjustable length; suitable for all hand sizes and grip types, the cpi is adjustable by increments of 50 within a wide range, high maximum polling rate and a very low minimum lift-off distance

High click latency, a bit heavy

Mad Catz R.A.T. 2+: Lab Tested - RTINGS.com

The Mad Catz R.A.T. 2+ is a good FPS gaming mouse, but it has high click latency. Its rubber cable isn't very flexible, and its mouse feet don't glide as smoothly as most gaming mice. Also, the plastic surfaces that make up the body feel cheap and...

Feels well-built, you can adjust the palm section to lengthen or shorten the mouse, lightweight

High click latency, rubber cable isn't very flexible and retains kinks from packaging

Mad Catz R.A.T. 8+: Lab Tested - RTINGS.com

Decent for FPS games. Its click latency is decent, but it's a very heavy mouse. On the upside, its performance is excellent and quite customizable to your preference. The mouse is also modular, meaning everyone should find a configuration that suits...

Customizable shape and size, universal for all hand sizes and grips, excellent build quality

No left-handed variant, not travel-friendly, rigid cable

Mad Catz R.A.T. Pro X Review — Winning the Rat Race

The R.A.T. Pro X wants to be a premium mouse for a hardcore audience, and in that, it succeeds on almost all counts. Weird appearance aside, it's a comfortable product with simple customization options and utility across a wide variety of genres.

Easy, deep customization ; Comfortable feel ; Great in-game performance

Expensive ; Few options for lefties or MMO players

The R.A.T. Pro X may not look pretty, but it's surprisingly comfortable, with incredible customization options.
