If you have a penchant for minimalist, well-engineered design then the second generation Shuffle should be on your short-list.
The new Shuffle is absolutely tiny, too, much smaller than the previous model. It measures 41 x 27 x 10mm, or just a touch smaller than the screen on my Sony Ericsson K800i. That's enough room for the familiar circular Shuffle control – play/pause...

Apple wants us to live a 'life less orderly' with its iPod shuffle. But is the lack of screen too much of a compromise?
As its competitors pile ever more features into their players in an attempt to dislodge Apple, it goes the other way and makes an even more simplistic player. It’s true that if any other company tried to release a MP3 player without a screen they’d get...

New iPod Shuffle slims down, but new features speak volumes. Quite literally

If the lack of a display or hold button not to mention Apple's ubiquity don't bother you, this is a superb player
Truly musical performance from a tiny package
No display or hold button

IPOD SHUFFLE 2GB GREEN RETAIL ONLY
Expert review by (macformat.co.uk)
Of all the iPods in the updated range, the one that's changed the least is the iPod shuffle; compared to its predecessor, it costs the same and offers the same capacity
Small and cute, Built-in clip, Very good audio
Very poor value, Still only 1GB, No new features
Despite its strengths, the iPod shuffle's lack of a refresh makes it worse value than ever

The new iPod shuffle has been completely redesigned from the ground up. It's less than half the size of the previous shuffle and comes with an aluminium case that has a special clip on the back, so that you can attach it to your clothing.
It's tiny!, C lips on clothing, Cool factor, Reasonable storage
Needs dock to connect, No screen
This iPod shuffle is going to be another big hit for Apple.

Apple's third-generation iPod shuffle will please minimalist-design enthusiasts. Smaller than a USB thumb drive, it is completely devoid of buttons, knobs, and a screen. While it is attractive, the shuffle's earbud controls and VoiceOver feature might...
If you're looking strictly for an audio player that doesn't take up a lot of space, the third-generation iPod shuffle is ideal. But if you're unwilling to drop sixty quid for a feature-scarce MP3 player, you might want to consider some less expensive...

Apple's second-generation budget iPod is short on function but high on style.
