Samsung YP-S2 review

Ultra compact and ultra fun - this Samsung is a steal

Deeply impressive sound for a product of this type

Can get a bit tiresome at high volumes

If you’re after a PC alternative to the ubiquitous iPod Shuffle, don’t look any further than this

Samsung YP-S2 (Pebble) review

But be prepared to spend some time with its manual: the absence of a screen makes navigating the Samsung YP-S2's many features tricky.

Despite lacking a screen, the Samsung YP-S2 Pebble manages to gather an impressive array of advanced features into a minimalist design. And if you'd rather wear your MP3 player as a necklace than as a clip, the S2 gives you a chic way to do it.

Samsung has carved out a new MP3-playing pebble. Should you slip it into your pocket or skim it into the ocean?

If you want a highly capable alternative to the iPod Shuffle, this is it

Samsung YP-S2 (Pebble)

Cute and glossy entry-level MP3 player

Tiny, cute design, easy to use

No LCD screen, simple feature set

Samsung's YP-S2 Pebble MP3 player is a unit for those after something basic. It does a good job with music playback and it looks stylish, but it lacks the features of its more expensive counterparts.

Samsung S2 review: Samsung S2

Samsung S2

Simple, compact design; fast transfer speeds; generous three-year warranty; inexpensive; available in a rainbow of colors.

Included backup and password protection software doesn't support Mac OS.

Although we dinged its predecessor because of its inflated price tag, the Samsung S2 Portable hard drive earns high marks and our recommendation for being reasonably priced, having fast file-transfer speed, and for having a generous three-year warranty.

Samsung S2 review

The Samsung S2 Portable hard drive is almost identical to the company's S1 Mini that we reviewed in 2009, except that the S2 Portable is slightly larger because of the 2.5-inch hard drive spinning inside. With capacities reaching 640GB ($120) and being...

Samsung Samsung YP-S2 (Pebble)

The minimalist Samsung YP-S2 (Pebble) audio player is a fun, inexpensive alternative to the iPod Shuffle. But be prepared to spend some time with its manual: The absence of a screen makes navigating this player's many features tricky.

Advanced features despite simple design ; Unique and wearable design

No screen makes navigation difficult ; Mediocre sound

The Samsung S2 Pebble is fashionable, yet hindered by its tricky controls and mediocre sound quality.

Samsung YP-S2

The YP-S2, aka the Pebble, won't win any awards for sound quality or battery life, but it's a cheap, gym-friendly iPod shuffle competitor.

Small and lightweight. Cheap. Gym-friendly earphones. Can create playlists on the go.

Earbuds lack bass. Necklace earphone design not for everyone. Cable-free PC connection is awkward.

Samsung S2 Pebble review: Samsung S2 Pebble

Samsung S2 Pebble

The Samsung S2 Pebble is an excellent value: it's inexpensive, sounds great, and offers a sleek and stylish design. It also includes a couple of useful extras, such as an on-the-go playlist and sound effects. The earphone plug design is handy.

There's no screen, and operating the Samsung S2 Pebble's extra functions takes some practice.

The Samsung S2 Pebble is a simple, cute MP3 player that offers a super affordable price tag, good sound quality, and some compelling extras. It's a great option for those who like to wear their devices pendant style.
