Canon's newest printer signals a departure from the old ways

Accurate colour rendition ; Dazzling images ; Longevity ; Frugal running costs

Slow in top-quality mode ; Expensive for mono printing

Stunning photo prints every time

Canon PIXMA iP6220D

Unlike all Canon's previous models, this printer takes an 'HP' approach to print cartridges, using two tri-colour carts to make up its six-ink range, each cartridge having its own built-in print head.

It is a small and smart enclosure at 42x26x15 the latter increases by another 15cm when paper is stored in the 'sit up and beg' vertical position at the rear of the unit. This is a four ink - two cartridge - solution and that makes the printing quality...

As photo printers go the iP6220D is relatively cheap yet it has a long list of connections and interfaces and print quality is very good. The build quality is a bit flimsy and the front cover and card reader flaps can smack into each other if you're...

Good Printer for the money

Sure, it isn't the new, higher resolution printer that Canon and others are now offering, but after printing a few 4x6s and 8x10s I have to say that this thing does a great job.

This is a con that turns into a pro, so read on.
