BenQ W10000 - 1080p DLP Projector

Can this monster DLP projector deliver the goods?

The large lens in the centre dominates, with two large grilles on either side, and it chucks out quite a bit of heat, not surprising considering the size of the lamp and the brightness level. A large plastic cowling with the BenQ logo embossed onto is...

BenQ W10000 review: BenQ W10000

BenQ W10000

Accurate color; solid feature package for setup and optimization; 1080p resolution for sharp, crisp images; clean video processing.

Somewhat limited connectivity with only one HDMI input; CMS (Color Management System) system needs refinement.

BenQ's W10000 delivers excellent performance for a 1080p 1-chip DLP projector, especially considering its relatively low price.

BenQ W10000 1080p Single-Chip DLP Projector

BenQ has been one of the more elusive projector manufacturers for the home theater market.

Ultimate AV: BenQ W10000 1080p DLP Projector

Video manufacturers have been severely challenged recently by the drop in prices of all the new technologies. Projectors have not been immune to the pressure. The W10000 is BenQ's first single-chip 1080p projector, coming to market at a time when the...

Bright, crisp, punchy image

No gamma options, and the fixed gamma is slightly dark

The BenQ's greatest strength is its formidable light output. It can support a much larger screen than most other single-chip DLPs and, indeed, most home theater projectors using other technologies as well. It also has good color, with color points...

BenQ W10000 1080p DLP Projector

I've had a soft spot for BenQ projectors since I reviewed its PE8700 back in 2004. It was the first DLP projector that I felt truly demonstrated the potential of the technology to dominate the video projector market.

Review: BenQ W10000 1080p DLP Home Theater Projector

Update 1/29/07: The initial posting of this review indicated that the W10000 has a 1.35:1 power zoom and focus lens, when in fact the zoom range of the lens is 1.15:1. This means that the W10000 can produce a 100" diagonal 16:9 image from 13.1' to...

BenQ W10000

There are, of course some improvements in the W10000 over the PE-8720, including the fact that the W10000 home theater projector is ISF Certified

Extremely sharp image ; Brighter than most other 1080p projectors ; Very good black levels ; Good color out of the box (could be better) ; Lens shift for better placement flexibility ; Very good remote control ; ISF Certified (if you are really...

Lens has very limited zoom range (1.15:1) ; Only 1 HDMI input (overall very basic selection of inputs) ; Manual could use better explanation and (more) detail about use of certain functions ; Leaks light out the front (although extremely low levels,...

Like most of you, I'll just have to wait a few more years until those 3 chippers come down to prices for normal folks

BenQ W10000 Front Projector: Coming Attraction

BENQ is up to its old tricks here with the W10000 single-chip 1080p DLP projector. But that's A-OK with us since the trick is offering DLP projectors that compete with the big boys for a lot less money. The W10000 joins Optoma's H81 as one of the very...
