Epson pretty much rewrites the LCD projection rule book for the second time in three months with its EH-TW5500.
With so many projectors vying for your attention in the coming months, it's inevitable that there will be winners and losers along the way. But by pretty much rewriting the LCD projection rule book for the second time in three months, it's hard to...

If you can get this Epson for a good price, then you've landed yourself a bargain; it's not the best in class, but it's still rather tasty
Bold, bright colours and whites ; decent black levels ; 1080p spec ; smooth motion
Set-up could be simpler ; skin tones are a little ruddy ; not the last word in detail
Good, but not quite good enough to match the best. Find a good deal, and it’s worth investigating

Epson's new EH-TW5500 proves that LCD isn't just a budget projection technology
No-nonsense design ; Lots of features ; Easy and flexible to setup ; Produces the finest LCD pictures yet
More expensive than rivals ; Occasionally loses focus a little, requiring readjustment
Quite simply, this is the best LCD projector that we have ever seen and illustrates that LCD is not the poor relation when done right

The Epson EH-TW5500 is one of the finest, if not the finest LCD projector we've ever seen. Superb HD clarity, vibrant colours and black response levels usually unheard of in an LCD projector, it goes a long way to justifying its premium price tag. It...

The Epson is a fine proposition, but the class leaders on either side of this price point represent better value

Uniform, bright illumination., Sharp picture with excellent colours., Outstanding 24p reproduction., Crisp motion depiction., Excellent contrast., 2.1x zoom with lens-shift.
Slight green tint., LCD pixel raster slightly visible.
Man, that’s quite a projector! Numerous small improvements on its predecessor result in an impressive overall performance. Even our experienced reviewers were left speechless by the grandiose contrast, crisp motion depiction, and versatile lens-shift...

Excellent picture quality when using the direct colour mode. Bright and evenly lit picture. Easy to use remote and options.
Takes a minute to warm up. Is bigger than I thought. Is a bit noisy when not in ECO mode. The focus wheel is hard to adjust precisely. The colour space is flattened when using a mode other than direct - which is very annoying.
