Mitsubishi HC1500 DLP Projector Review

We absolutely jumped at the chance to get a very close look at the new Mitsubishi HC1500 DLP projector since we missed the boat on checking out the HD1000U which preceded it. The attraction is a

1080p/60 support ; Main menu shows input signal resolution ; RS-232C control ; Excellent color ; Good out-of-the-box performance

No 480i support over HDMI ; Significant rainbow effect ; Default Sharpness setting too high ; Can crush blacks if not careful

Mitsubishi HC 1500

Excellent color reproduction., Powerful light output., Accepts Scart-RGB signals.

Average contrast., Irritating noise from the color wheel at 60 hertz., Juddering 24p playback.

The Mitsubishi HC 1500 cannot, admittedly, do everything. But it does provide more-than-acceptable HDMI performance for the price. Decent colors and bright pictures mean this versatile projector appeals to a wide audience, but discerning home-theater...

Mitsubishi HC1500 720p DLP Projector Review

We've been building up our collection of projector reviews here at ConnectReviews, kicking it off with the Panasonic AE-1000U we reviewed last month. Today, we're taking a look at a lower-priced 720p model from Mitsubishi, the HC1500.

Bright image ; Crisp and rich colors ; Relatively quiet at 25dB ; Great for consumers on a budget

Noticeable screen door effect up close ; Only 1 HDMI input

The Mitsubishi HC1500 is available today for a price of just under $870 on Amazon.

Mitsubishi HC1500

As a result, this review will canibalize some paragraphs from the older review, but focus on how the HC1500 fits into the current "world order". If you've previously read that HC1000 review, the biggest change is probably the perspective, as the...

Overall, excellent performance for a sub-$1000 home theater projector ; Better than average sharpness ; Extremely bright projector (one of the brightest 720p models out there) ; Especially bright in Cinema mode - my 128" screen was not a problem ; Far...

A bit noisy in bright lamp mode, but not overly so (typical DLP projector) ; Limited zoom range ; HDMI 1.2, not 1.3 (only a couple of projectors with 1.3 are currently shipping as of this writing) ; One year parts and labor warranty is shorter than...

I was extremely impressed with the original HD1000U, the HC1500's predecessor. The two projectors are virtually identical, except for the increase in brightness that the HC1500 home theater projector offers. As of right now (8/07), I count the HC1500...

Mitsubishi HC1500 Home Theater Projector Review

Last fall Mitsubishi released a remarkable low end 720p resolution home theater projector--the HD1000U. It delivered a sharp, beautiful, high contrast image for under $1000, and we gave it our Editor's Choice Award as a truly outstanding achievement....

We already used up all of our superlatives in praising the HD1000U, and our enthusiasm carries over to the HC1500. Both will be granted the Editor's Choice Award. The bottom line is this: if your installation can accommodate the limitations of its zoom...

wow... just wow

I run a summer camp for kids and this thing saves my life by keeping them quiet for 1 1/2 hours a day. thank you new egg for keeping me alive.

picture quality was awesome on dvds and even better using my PC with 720 resolution. I am projecting it on a 106" screen and even with the lights on u can see it well enough to keep up with whats going on in the movie

this thing dose not like heat, i had it mounted on the ceiling in a house that only has ac when we use it and one day after i tried to turn it on after the ac had been off for most of the day it did nothing. so i took it down and put it in a cold room...

Excellent Projector for the $$

I bought this with the Silvermax 94h projector screen and this thing is solid. Performs with a astonishing picture, accurate and detailed image. I have this on a pioneer elite receiver with ps3, xbox 360, tivo HD w/ verizon service. Blu-Ray and HD...

Excellent skin tone right out of the box ; Excellent black levels ; Decent luminosity range ; Good contrast ; Plenty of inputs and picture settings ; Good rating on bulb life

Odd throw when mounting higher than screen on shelf, had to shim it even more then projectors legs could extend, eventually got picture perfect ; Runs pretty hot ; As any projector, gets washed out in medium to high levels of light

Stunning for the money...

I was really taking a gamble, relying completely on reviews and never actually seeing the HC1500 in person. Well, I think it is spectacular for the price, and am very pleased with the image quality of 720p from 12 feet back!

I removed mine from the box, mounted in on the ceiling, connected to my computer (DVI>HDMI cable), and my high definition movies looked spectacular. My mounting location is 12 feet away from my screen (which happens to be the silvermax92h) and it is...

No automatic keystone correction, could heat my room in the winter... so keep the air conditioning running. However, you can save on your heating bill in the winter!!! Ha

Great projector for the price range

I'm using a computer with a TV Tuner card to watch basic cable through the projector. I Highly recommend using a Media Center based PC to control the projector. I used a old AMD Socket A gaming rig i had laying around. Bought a cheap ATI card and a TV...

I was very surprised by the clarity of this projector. For being under $1000 i was wondering if i was making a mistake. But i was pleasantly surprised. At first i used a Component adapter and then switched over to a DVID to HDMI and the clarity in 720p...

Bulbs cost around $275 and $350 and need to be replaced within 2000-3000 hours. For me this is going to be around 1.5 years at my current usage rate. But its still worth it in my opinion. I have a 130" screen for under $1000 plus $300 every year. Its...
