KEF KHT3005 HD2 review

Impeccably built and finished, but sound lacks brio

Impeccably built and finished ; usefully compact subwoofer ; expansive, poised sound

Not the fastest, most dynamic or most attacking sound on the market

All the usual KEF virtues undermined only slightly by a relative lack of brio

KEF KHT3005SE review

Great performance, looks and build, but after two years at the top, the KEF now faces some tough competition

A seamless surround field combined with a direct and focused centre channel ; deep, refined, weighty and powerful sound will fill even large rooms

Occasional touch of tubbiness to the bass ; not quite as fast or agile as the B&W MT-25s

It's back to £1000 and back to five stars, but the '3005SE might not be the no-brainer choice it once was

Not the most dynamic of systems

KEF's 'eggs' are now sounding even better...

Great looks, easy placement, comfortable when loud

Not the most dynamic of systems

Of course it's not cheap, but just nudging into four figures, it's far from silly money valley either. For this level of sound quality and style, it's perfectly reasonably priced. In many ways it's comfortable, even cosy system, that delivers well on...

KEF's stunningly styled egg-shaped speaker package, the KHT-3005, boasts audiophile-quality sound for music and impressive home-theatre performance.

Compact, beautifully designed speaker package ; Solid aluminum satellites ; Unique driver technology produces incredible clarity ; Dual 10-inch, 250-watt powered subwoofer delivers ultradeep bass

Finicky setup required to produce best sound

So what are the KEF KHT-3005's limitations? Well, compared to a set of much larger speakers, they just don't offer the same volume capability, dynamic range, and home-theatre impact. Higher-end full-size speaker packages simply play louder and deliver...

Form meets function, and the two embrace in the 3005 series speakers from KEF. Designated as the KHT-3005, this futuristic-looking 5.1 system resembles a tasteful, yet playful speaker system that would look right at home in Mork from Ork's home (ask...

Imagine an egg, not your usual size 6 or 7 but say, around a size 30. Now cut said egg in half own its vertical axis and finish in black high gloss. This is basically what the speakers of the KEF Home Theatre 3000 series look like. Sounds kind of...
