Sony Ericsson MBS-100

Unidentified flying… speaker?

Quirky design, simple operation, excellent sound quality considering its size

Battery is non-removable

This strange-looking device is actually a very useful speaker. Don’t let the design fool you, as Sony Ericsson’s MBS-100 is a commendable mobile phone accessory.

Sony Ericsson MBS-100 review: Sony Ericsson MBS-100

Sony Ericsson MBS-100

The Sony MBS-100 is a small, Bluetooth speaker with an aux input, decent battery life, and a design that looks like it fell off the back of a spaceship.

Sure, it's small, but its softball shape isn't as convenient to carry as many fold-flat designs. Also, there's no volume control, microphone, or AVRCP controls, and the sound quality won't exactly knock you out of your seat.

Nothing can compare with the Sony MBS-100's unique alien eyeball design, but there isn't much else to admire in this compact speaker.

Review: Sony Ericsson MBS-100

Almost every cellphone doubles as a jukebox these days. But the list of phones sporting decent speakers? It's a lot shorter. Sony's solution is the...

Easy to use and extremely portable. Carrying case included. Decent wireless range and relatively smooth streaming. Supports Advanced Audio Distribution and Audio and Video Remote Control profiles. Connects to larger sound systems via audio out jack....

A damning combination of being pricey/underpowered. Bass hungry beat fiends need not apply. Only 50 hours of standby?! Connectivity options are limited to 3.5 line in/out and Bluetooth. No volume or media controls on the speaker itself

Sony Ericsson MBS-100 Portable Bluetooth Speaker

With a design destined to give the arachnophobic nightmares, the MBS-100 is a speaker with good audio clarity but a hefty price tag for the level of sound it produces.

Intriguing design ; Lightweight and portable ; Good audio clarity ; 3.5mm audio input and Bluetooth

Soft playback level ; Expensive

Overall The MBS-100 Bluetooth speaker from Sony Ericsson may have a place in your musical life; perhaps it's on the desk where you study, or maybe its beside your bed helping you to sleep. However, the MBS-100 shouldn't be mistaken for a speaker that...

Best Value for my Money

"The best portable speaker I've seen. Took 10 seconds or less to setup with my iPhone 3G and Sony Vaio. Amazing sound quality, I was surprised how great it sounded. iPhone finally supports A2DP with the FW 3.0 but still there is no volume control when...

Amazing sound. Intuitive Design. Great Quality Product all around

No Volume Control from within the Speaker
