Warm, yet punchy performance ; Strong Bluetooth connection ; Nice looks ; Solid battery life
Not the sharpest performance ; Rivals offer more fidelity

Looking for a portable yet powerful speaker? Ultimate Ears Epicboom has plenty to excite
Robust build and IP67 dust- and water-resistant ; Solid battery life and easy recharging via USB-C ; Significant sound experience with app-adjustable EQ
Sound can't quite rival very best on the market ; A little pricey considering the competition
The Ultimate Ears Epicboom is a practical option for those who want both at-home and outdoors use – the waterproofing sees to that. The speaker outputs 360-degree sound, has decent battery life, and there's EQ adjustability via the app. However, while...

Is this heavyweight portable speaker a sonic boom or a misfiring bust?
Broad, expansive sound ; Attractive and well-made ; Strong feature set
A little artificial sounding ; Rivals offer more insight and musicality
The burly Epicboom is a well-made and eminently likeable plus-sized portable, yet we have our doubts as to whether it can compete sonically with the market’s best.

Ultimate Ears has a powerful new speaker - the Epicboom, and we've tested it thoroughly.
Sounds great ; So rugged ; Simple to use
Feels overpriced ; Bluetooth only is restrictive
The Epicboom does what it says on the tin - it's a new impressively powerful speaker from Ultimate Ears that's really easy to use and sounds great. That $350 price is a bit of an issue right now, though - there are better options out there for the money.

Portable audio doesn't get much richer than the Ultimate Ears Epicboom – even after you've tossed it in the pool
Great chunky controls ; Brilliant sound ; Waterproof
Rather expensive ; Many other options available
Epic stamina, punchy audio, full waterproofing. The ultimate speaker for winter sun will give satisfaction. It’s pricey, though.

The $349 Ultimate Ears Epicboom is the go anywhere Bluetooth music system with strong durability and big sound shaking up the portable speakers category.
Lastly, while many will be happy with 17 hours of battery life, the premium $349 price feels a bit steep for a Bluetooth given the battery life durability of smarter wireless speaker rivals for just a $100 more. But if it's simplicity and solid...
