Yamaha YAS-152

Yamaha delivers a one-box soundbar solution for 55-inch-and-larger HDTVs with solid connectivity options, but sound quality suffers in the bargain.

Inside the enclosure are two 2.5-inch full-range cones firing forward, as mentioned above, and two 3.5-inch, downward-firing subwoofer drivers. A three-channel amplifier delivers 30 watts to each full-range driver, and 60 watts to the subwoofer.

The YAS-152 is big on bombastic bass, but came up short on clarity and detail.

While we appreciate YAS-152’s ample array of connections and slick IR repeater, we keep coming back to the fact that it just doesn’t sound up to snuff. Sure, this sound bar is big on bombastic bass, but it is also woefully short on clarity and detail....

Excellent value. Warm tonal balance suits overly bright action movies. Classy design that blends easily into any decor.

Only average sound quality with music. Not as powerful as a 2.1 system with a separate subwoofer. No HDMI input. Glossy finish scratches easily.

Yamaha YAS-152 Front Surround System

The Yamaha YAS-152 is a surprisingly well balanced soundbar with a natural performance and a reasonable price tag.

Musical, natural performance. Surprisingly bass for a unit sans subwoofer. Remote control repeater function. Bluetooth support, including app.

Some dynamic compression as volume pushed.

The Yamaha YAS-152's performs well for a sound bar in its price range, provided you take advantage its audio processing features, such as Clear Voice and Air Surround Xtreme.
