The Dyson AM09 Hot+Cool performed very well in our tests, and offers a distinctive, functional, feature-rich design.

Though very solid, the AM09 doesn't outperform much cheaper competitors by a wide enough margin to justify the price difference. If you misplace the remote, you'll be unable to access common controls like oscillation and the sleep timer.

Unless you're the most devoted Dyson loyalist, you'll find much better values if you shop around -- including Dyson's own AM05.

Looking much like a large paperclip, the Hot + Cool AM09 looks pretty good for a heater/fan combo, looking like neither traditional models, and instead continues Dyson's bladeless styling that it's stuck with since it introduced its Air Multipliers....

We're pleased with how quick and efficient the AM09 is at heating up a room, and it serves great double duty as a regular fan too. We're not too convinced with how noisy it can get though, but more crucially, its painfully expensive
