With Ultra HD Blu-ray on the horizon, regular Blu-ray decks are an endangered species. But with disc and player prices plummeting as a result, there's never been a better time to buy. Plus, features that were once reserved for top-end machines can now...
Pin-sharp pictures ; Attractive onscreen design & slick app ; Multiroom support
Lacks features found on similarly-priced players ; No optical audio output ; DVD upscaling artefacts
LG’s great-value Blu-ray deck is a no-brainer for Spotify and Now TV subscribers. It’s easy to use and delivers sizzling hi-definition pictures – but some similarly priced decks offer a bit more for the money.

The LG BP550 has plenty of features to make it worth your consideration. Its ability to play 3D videos, app support and upscaling of DVDs make the player incredibly versatile. However, its lack of 4K support may be a deal breaker for some.
It has several preinstalled apps.
It doesn’t have as many audio outputs as the best Blu-ray players.
With plenty of features like DLNA support, apps and 3D playback, the LG BP550 is a good midrange Blu-ray player, but it doesn’t play 4K content or have all the best audio outputs.

Very easy to install and use, with very little fuss. The addition of being able to connect to the internet makes it a multi use platform, with DVD, Blueray and video streaming plus more
Not a great amount of online streaming content (where is Amazon Prime?)

Compact design, lots of features
Constantly freezes and has to be unplugged and rebooted. Went to the trouble of running an ethernet cable to it because I thought it might be a problem with the wireless connection but no better

A novice can use it first time with no problems

Cracking picture quality and ease of use.
To much reliant on remote control if you cannot down load the app.
