The best action cam to buy isn't always the most expensive and feature packed, as this GoPro proves
Best value GoPro of the range ; Smooth 1080p footage @60fps ; Wider range of mounts than other brands ; Matchbox design squeezes into small spaces
Screen is £80 extra ; Main unit is vulnerable when not in waterproof housing ; Tiny buttons, fiddly in use
Not the most user-friendly, but certainly the best value action cam out there

If you like GoPro's camera design and are willing to sacrifice a few features to get solid HD video, you could save $100 over the $400 Black Edition.
The ; combines excellent HD video with recording options up to 1080p at 60fps and the same design as the company's other cameras so you have access to a large selection of accessories and mounts.
The $100 savings from the Black Edition costs you many shooting options and some video quality, particularly in low light. Battery life can be brief depending on the features you're using. Plan to buy accessories, including a microSD card.
If you like GoPro's camera design and just want solid HD video, you might be able to save yourself $100 and get this instead of the $400 Black Edition.

If you're going to get a GoPro, spring for the $400 Hero3+ Black Edition. While $100 less expensive, video quality from the Silver Edition seriously pales in comparison.
Good color and white balance.
Subpar video quality for the price. Battery life is poor with Wi-Fi enabled.
Conclusion The GoPro Hero3+ Silver Edition isn't the less-expensive alternative to the Hero3+ Black Edition you should get. Sony's POV Action Cam (HDR-AS100V) has a similar $300 asking price as the Silver Edition, but it records more detailed footage....

The GoPro 3+ is a solidly built professional camera that can stand up to a lot of harsh activities. The picture quality is amazing and can be adjusted for whatever you need to record. The microphone quality is okay but it can't pick much up in a fully...
