ACER L100 19"PHP

The small Form Factor means that it can stand neatly on a Desktop thereby avoiding a large Tower system on the floor. Front access to USB, Audio 7 Card reader is very convenient.

On first set up the Cooling fan was bearably noisy measuring in excess of 60db. The Item was returned to NDC several times before the unit was acceptable and even now some 4 months on it revs up to a high noise level. The after sales experience was...

Normally a big fan of Acer, but this unit has serious hardware problems.

Of course the restore didn't work -tried 3 times. Same issues. Pulled the RAM and put 2GB Corsair, then 2 GB Kingston then 2 GB Transcend. All passed memtest but the same problems persisted. Even installed Xp to rule out Vista was a partial culprit:...

Nice looking, tiny form factor, and very respectable specs at a good price. That's it though: this has turned out to be one of the biggest computer hassles I've had in years. I've taken to usually building my desktops with parts from Newegg (nice Asus...

Problems from the start. As others have pointed out, a 200 pin 2GB DDR2 upgrade is in order. But in my case even with the 1GB it ran acceptably fast for a Vista box. Tons of hardware issues though -USB ports would just quit working, apps wouldn't...

Turning off the fan monitor does keep the unit adequately cool if left in the position. Unfortunately if you are within three to four feet of the unit for more than a minute you may risk permanent hearing loss from the tremendous, high-pitched whir!!!...

I must begrudgingly tell the truth - for the average computer user this computer is quite fast...once you uninstall Vista for XP Pro. And I did my homework - all components do have XP Drivers (with a little searching). The hard drive is a SATA II and...

First and Foremost - This little machine runs HOT ; The fan on the back of the unit is an INTAKE fan - not exhaust - the internal design is ghastly with this formula for cooling is place. The area just above (and behind) the front USB ports houses the...

Nice little home desktop

Nice compact package. Decent processor speed. Vista is a pain. Very quiet

No graphics performance to speak of. Won't play GPU-intensive games

Slow Daddy

Memory for this machine is a 200-pin SODIMM NOT 168-pin; kinda major spec omission there. I just bought (2) 1GB sticks of Kingston's 667MHz ( Item#:N82E16820134129) ... we'll see how that helps.

Great size, love the simplicity of the exterior

This may be the slowest computer I have ever powered up out of the box. My Amiga in 1989 smoked this thing. I read a few other reviews on similar Acer models and those owners wiped the OS and reinstalled without the Acer-ware; I'll give it a try ;...

Hard Drive Dead--Tech Support?

I plan on buying my own replacement HDD. If that doesn't work, my boat needs an anchor and this will suffice.

See two earlier reviews

Hard drive died a rapid and painful death. Trying to find a phone number to call at Acer for a replacement is impossible. I sent an email but don't expect a response

Loud and slow

Fans are so loud! It sounds like the DVD drive is spinning at max speed when it's actually the two tiny fans cranking up whenever the machine has to think about something (with Vista, it's always). I don't know why, because it doesn't get that hot. The...

Tiny, sleek, quiet when fans aren't running

Fans blow at max power when doing any cpu-intensive task; Vista runs slow and to upgrade RAM it looks like you have to completely switch out the two 512s to free up a slot instead of just adding more RAM to an empty slot

Great little PC

Has some space to move stuff around.

Space is kinda tight but not too tight.
