A super-fast f/1.4 lens, Raw capture and full manual control distinguish the Samsung EX2F.
Fast maximum aperture of f/1.4 ; 3in vari-angle AMOLED screen ; Raw capture ; Good ISO performance
Some poor button placement ; Wi-Fi functionality demolishes battery life

The Samsung EX2F is a high-end compact for those who don't want to swap lenses
Swivel AMOLED screen ; Very bright/fast aperture ; Solid build
Not cheap

Smarter than the average compact camera
Bright 24-80mm lens ; Easy to access controls ; Simple Wi-Fi sharing ; Shoots raw files
Smart filters and AF don't work together ; No touchscreen ; Raw shooting is limited
Buying GuideBest compact camera 2012 Samsung announced its 12MP smart camera, the Samsung EX2F, in July, improving on the original Samsung EX1 by adding Wi-Fi capability for easy image sharing and boosting the pixel count from 10MP to 12MP.

It's all go in the high-end compact camera market, and Samsung's EX2F lays out a potential secret weapon that no similar competitor can offer: Wi-Fi. Samsung's current fascination with Wi-Fi will please some and leave others shrugging their shoulders....
f/1.4-2.7 maximum aperture, vari-angle LCD screen, raw file capture, good quality images
Inconsistent autofocus particularly with close-up focus, Wi-Fi kills battery life, high ISO image quality, limited zoom range, body finish chips easily
Samsung’s current fascination with Wi-Fi will please some and leave others shrugging their shoulders. As it stands the EX2F’s Wi-Fi feature is okay, it’s certainly something that similar competitors don’t offer, but it does stick a knife in the battery...

It's also worth noting that for a price in between the Samsung and the Sony, one could bag an interchangeable lens Nikon J2, almost a match in body size and with kit zoom of similar reach. Still, Wi-Fi connectivity alongside manual options is the draw...
The only downside is, despite including bags of detail from centre to corner of frame, pictures can look better on the camera’s back than your own desktop.

This is new camera from Samsung. It's a digital offering verging on what some call a ‘Bridge' unit. This is a full HD video unit with still images up to 12.4MP. It can take 4:3, 16:9 and 1:1. It has a flip out viewfinder like a lot of camcorders.
The Samsung EX2F 'Smart' camera measures 12x6x4.5cm, the last figure the width can increase by 2.5cm when fully zoomed in. The weight of the unit is 309grams. Looking the rear of the unit the left side has only a neck strap anchor point, the other...

Samsung's top-end pocket compact is aimed at those who want better pictures than the average snapper, but not interchangeable lenses
Bright lens for DSLR-style shallow depth of field effects and low light shooting, tilt and swivel back screen, built-to-last metal construction
Costs almost as much as a starter DSLR or compact system camera, which arguably would offer even more creative scope in the long run despite the extra bulk
But, unlike say the Sony RX100, pictures from this Samsung resemble those from the very good snapshot camera that it is, rather than cheating users into thinking they’ve just shot something with a digital SLR.

A new CMOS sensor and fast f/1.4 lens should ensure that the Wi-Fi-enabled, enthusiast-level Samsung EX2F compact is a consummate low-light performer. Read the Samsung EX2F review...
Like the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX7, the Samsung EX2F is a solid camera without being spectacular. It builds well on its predecessor and is an attractive proposition in many ways, such as its good build quality, fast and sharp lens, and variety of...

The Samsung EX2F is the update to Samsung's serious compact camera, and is one of very few to feature a bright f/1.4 lens, as well as Wi-Fi. Find out how it performs in our review.
Bright f/1.4 lens; Great 3inch vari-angle screen; 10fps shooting (JPEG only); Very good image quality; Excellent Wi-Fi sharing; 1cm macro mode
Wont let you change settings while photos being written to card
