Full-frame CSC gets extra smarts for 2015
Great OIS ; Excellent dynamic range and image quality ; Improved handling
Quite noisy ; Fairly poor battery stamina
Of course such stamina may be perfectly fine for weekend photographers looking for a smaller camera that might encourage them to take the thing out more often. Just consider where your priorities lie before jumping to any conclusions.

Firmware update adds better quality raw files and phase detection AF for Alpha-mount lenses
Size and handling ; Image quality ; Effective in-body stabilization system
Viewfinder colours slightly undersaturated ; Position of Record button ; Significant price increase over A7
The Sony Alpha A7 II is a superb camera that has all the benefits of a full-frame sensor without the bulk. It has good AF, superb image stabilization and produces very high quality images in a wide range of conditions.

The very first full-frame compact system camera, the Alpha A7 , was such an out-there trend setter that it nabbed the Pocket-lint Awards gong for best system camera back in 2014. Fast-forward a couple of years and, as we tread into 2016, the...
Small size yet delivers big on full-frame image quality, excellent electronic viewfinder quality, tilt-angle LCD, 5-axis image stabilisation on board whatever lens you're using, affordable entry into full-frame
Poor battery life, limited FE E-mount lenses (and many of the zooms aren't up to much), autofocus system not comparable to an advanced DSLR, no pinpoint AF can see precision slip, no touchscreen
Big quality from small scale: that's what the Sony A7 II represents to us. And having used the A7 II for three weeks we've snapped some ace shots from this impressive little camera.

This time last year the first-generation Sony A7 took the Pocket-lint Awards gong for best interchangeable lens camera. As a small-scale full-frame model

Sony's latest high-end camera claims to have the world's best image stabilisation. Is it any great shakes?
Stellar imaging quality ; 5-axis stabilisation massively boosts handheld performance ; Top notch build quality and design
No 4K video option
A fast-focusing, steady-shooting superstar of a camera designed for demanding (and well-heeled) users
Expert review by : Lori Grunin (cnet.co.uk)
This compact interchangeable-lens model is a great step-up from APS-C models, as long as you don't demand action-shooting performance.
, aka the A7, delivers excellent photo and video quality in a well-designed camera that's enjoyable to shoot with.
The long startup time and short battery life disappoint.
Sony Alpha ILCE-7 (A7) is a great alternative to similarly priced entry-level full-frame dSLRs, as long as you don't need speedy continuous shooting.

A superlative, mirrorless SLR compact camera with Steady Shot technology

Reviewed: The Sony Alpha A7-II - The updated camera features improved handling and controls, along with in-camera image stabilisation.
5-axis image stabilisation built in ; Improved resolution 3inch screen (1,228,800 dots) ; Improved handling and controls ; Full-frame sensor mirrorless camera ; Focus peaking / Zebra display ; 5fps continuous shooting (speed priority) ; Weather sealed...
USB charging / separate charger not provided ; Shorter battery life when using the EVF ; Limited lens range in FE mount - quickly growing, plus plenty of adapters available ; Flash not included / provided - although possibly not needed
The Sony Alpha A7 Mark II adds in-camera 5-axis image stabilisation which will work with any lens used with the camera, which will be of appeal to anyone who has been using the Sony Alpha A7 series cameras with alternative lenses using an adapter....

A little over a year ago, Sony fired a warning shot across the bows of Canon and Nikon by releasing the world's first ever full-frame mirrorless camera – the A7. It was small, light and the image quality matched that of a flagship D-SLR, but the price...
The A7 Mk II is a fantastic camera in its own right, but as far as updates go, not many owners of the original A7 will be looking on with envy and wishing that they’d waited. But, if you’re coming in fresh to the market you’ll appreciate its faster...

The mirrorless, full-frame Sony Alpha 7 II improves on its predecessor with in-body stabilization, faster autofocus, and a better ergonomic design, and earns Editors' Choice honors in the process.
