With a massive 400GB hard drive, the Panasonic DMR-EX88 can record a whopping 712 hours – that's nearly 30 days – of telly!
Stupendous hard-disk space means hours of excellent recordings ; complete spec ; very easy to use ; terrific picture and sound quality
Only that Panasonic's cheaper DMR-EX78 is very nearly as good
Not cheap, but not overly expensive either, given its capabilities. This is a fantastic DVD recorder for those chasing the very best

A feature-rich performer that's simple to use
Good features and picture quality ; Ease of use
Expensive ; No WMA ; Dull design
It’s hard to imagine how Panasonic’s rivals can compete with such a multi-talented and easy to use digital combi

The 400GB hard-disk holds up to 712 hours of TV but if you want to record onto DVD (or copy programmes from the hard-disk) then the unit accepts any format you throw at it, including dual-layer DVD-R and DVD+R discs.
Loads of features, ease of use, recording quality
No WMA playback, can't transfer DivX to HDD

Easy to install and use
The on screen programme guide is not well laid out

Multi functional. Good design. Works well with Panasonic HD tv.
Slow to start up. Instruction manual and remote a little confusing to begin with - takes patience.

REcords superbly from both TV and videeo eqipment. Easy to edit. Simple to catalogue films on hard disk.
Manual is rather complicated especially with regard to cable TV set up. But so far everything quite manageable with a little bit of patience
