Nintendo's latest is a charming little game that amps up very carefully.
Lovely looks ; Charming additional Pikmin ; A bigger sense of scale
Pretty familiar ; Dandori battles are merely ok
Pikmin 4 is a lovely slice of zen management, giving you a frantic gang of little guys to corral and a host of morish hubs to explore while you do so. Its extra modes are welcome, even if none of it feels radically new.

This long overdue sequel is bigger and more approachable than ever, but series vets might find Pikmin 4 a little too easy
More approachable than ever ; A deep, challenging post-game ; Oatchi is the best boy
A tad too easy in the base game ; Where’s that dog’s nose gone?
The most approachable instalment yet, though perhaps too much so for series veterans, Pikmin 4 is nonetheless packed with tons of charm and content.

Pikmin 4 trades in stress and chaos for a rewarding strategy-puzzle hybrid that puts players' multitasking skills to the test.
Streamlined strategy systems Charming visual style Strong progression hooks Wealth of meaningful side content
Lots of hand-holding Lock-on frustrations
“Pikmin 4 reworks a familiar strategy formula to create a more satisfying adventure about the power of efficient multitasking.”

Nintendo's Pikmin 4 beautifully builds upon the franchise's quirky strategy formula to deliver new mechanics and dense locales that make you feel even more like an interplanetary explorer.
