Audio Technica ATH-ANC9

A decent noise-cancelling effort from Audio Technica, but there are more effective options

Dynamic performance ; Good energy

Noise-cancelling could be better ; Can get tiring after a while

Goondu review: Audio Technica ATH-ANC9 QuietPoint

All the original attributes - the great sound, the portability and solid build - will help make the ATH-ANC9 another firm favourite for travellers looking for a pair of noise cancelling headphones.

The microphone and added iPhone controls will delight Apple users, as will the more highly-rated active noise cancelling. But all the original attributes – the great sound, the portability and solid build – will help make the ATH-ANC9 another firm...

Audio-Technica ATH-ANC9 noise cancelling headphones

These $349 headphones can cancel airplane, office or outside noise

Excellent noise cancelling ; Clear treble and solid bass ; Good construction

Bass and treble suffer when powered off ; Strong clamping force may cause fatigue ; Thin cable

Audio-Technica’s top noise cancelling headphones do an excellent job of blocking outside noise. They also sound musical and detailed, but this is only true when noise cancelling is activated -- with no battery boost they’re flat and lifeless.

Audio Technica ATH-ANC9 QuietPoint

The Audio Technica ATH-ANC9 QuietPoint headphones deliver quality audio in passive and active modes, but noise-cancellation performance is not in line with the price.

Deep bass response, with no distortion at top volumes. Lightweight, comfortable construction. Outputs audio in passive mode. Removable cables—one with inline microphone and remote.

Slightly overpriced. Noise cancellation mics sometimes allow low transient sounds into in-ear mix. Doesn't ship with a rechargeable battery.

Audio Technica ATH-ANC9 QuietPoint® Active Noise-Cancelling Headphones

Audio Technica's ATH-ANC9 Over-the-Ear Headphones don't have an overly heavy duty look to them, which makes them unassuming and clean looking. But, of course, headphones are about functionality. Read our review to see how they functioned.

Audio Technica ATH-ANC9

The ANC9s sound great, and even better when noise cancelling is active. Memory foam creates a comfortable fit, but it's just a shame that you need to keep AAA batteries handy to get the most of out them.

Excellent, even-handed sound ; Great noise cancelling ; Generous sale pack

Non-rechargeable battery

The Audio-Technica ATH-ANC9s are a great-sounding pair of noise-cancelling headphones, but you'll have to keep a packet of AAA batteries handy if you want to get the most out of them. This will gall some music lovers, especially when Audio-Technica is...
